I've been getting regular Brazilian bikini waxes for a long time. After moving to LA from New York recently, I decided to try out Exhale. I had the worst bikini wax of my life. The wax itself did not adhere well to the hair, meaning that the aesthetician had to go over the same spots multiple times, causing excruciating pain. Also, she didn't wear gloves, which was (a) disgusting and (b) incredibly painful since she would touch my inflamed skin with her bare hands, causing traction. My skin ripped in several places, causing bleeding and leaving small scars. The aesthetician also seemed unaware of basic ways to ease pain during the process, including applying pressure to newly treated areas and covering treated areas with a cold damp cloth to ease the pain and inflammation. Instead, she rubbed an oil into the treated area which just made my skin burn and hurt even more. The experience was so horrible that I couldn't even finish the procedure. After getting home I discovered that there were still fine hairs in areas where the aesthetician had applied wax multiple times. To add insult to injury, the waxing cost about twice as much as I paid at my last salon in Manhattan. I will NEVER go back to this place.

My boyfriend took me here as a valentine's day present and we were upset to find that they had double booked the couples massage room which he had reserved for us. They didn't have any openings the rest of the day at all, so we were forced to get two individual massages instead. We were disappointed at first that we couldn't have the couple's massage, but the massages we did receive were amazing. Every masseuse has a different technique so be sure to ask about that before you book. My boyfriend and I got completely different massages, even though they were called the same thing. The environment was really nice, minus the ceilings which looked kind of unfinished to us. And if you can't handle people without their clothes on, then this is not the place for you. Most people don't wear a swimsuit into the spas and walk around the same way, so beware of that. The unlimited use of the whirl pools and sauna with your massage treatment is definitely a bonus though. I would definitely go back.
Pros: therapists know what they are doing for your massage
Cons: scheduling problems with double booking rooms
