Snooty service. I've always loved DVF's stuff, so I thought the boutique would have the best selection. I told the salesgirl I was looking for a dress to wear to a cocktail party, but not too formal and not black. She proceeded to show me 3 dresses that were either too formal or black. When I told her these were not what I wanted she said "that's all I have to show you" - like she was dismissing me! I asked about trying on 2 other dresses and she got them for me but did not seem interested in helping me anymore. She never asked me how I was doing while I tried them on. They didn't work for me so I left without anyone saying goodbye. Next time I'll go to Saks or Neimans and hope they have DVF styles that I like.

Her only free-standing shop in California offers designer sportswear, dresses, jackets, resort wear, shoes, scarves, fragrance and books, and there's also a wall devoted to new takes on the original wrap jersey dress--including a copy of the one she wore on the cover of Newsweek.
