Editorial Review for eat. on sunset – by Martha Burr
In Short
Pinot fans can still savor the summer-dinner-party feel of the sprawling outdoor patio enclosed by vine-covered walls, and enjoy the classy dining room redone in blue-grey tones. The menu includes traditional and modern seasonal dishes like smoked and grilled Kurobota pork chops, wine-braised pot roast and lobster-pomegranate salad. The bar and lounge feature oversized ottomans, a fireplace, an expansive cocktail menu and small plates of oysters, pork and duck sausage and foie gras torchon.

Insider Tips
Save MoneyOrder the "staff meal" as a light dinner, and get a bargain price on whatever the kitchen team is eating that day.
Happy HourThe weekday happy hour runs from 4pm to 7pm on the patio and in the lounge, and offers select discounted drinks and snacks.
The ExtrasLike its predecessor, the space specializes in private events from cocktail parties to full corporate dinners. Two small private dining rooms behind the bar, seating roughly 12 people each are also available and can be combined.

I too went to the dineLA event last week and was happy with the menu we were given... the service was another issue. When we got there we were promptly seated, however, they placed my party in this awful brown room with only one of the three lanterns working. The ambience was awful and it felt like we were in someone's basement. The front room looked really nice and I think I would have enjoyed my time more I had I been placed there. Our busboy was great b/c our drinks were always being refreshed, however, we saw our waitress maybe every 35-45 minutes only to drop off food, not to see if we needed anything. For the first course I had the warm mushroom salad with manchego cheese. It was light and quite good with a hint of pepper. The second dish was the salmon served with a berry risotto. The salmon was nothing special, however, the risotto was interesting in a good way- very creamy, a little tangy, but delicious. My friend had a steak and said it was seasoned and cooked well. For dessert we had the bread pudding- not a big fan of this dish. It was too egg-y and heavy. There wasn't anything with it to compliment the heaviness and the cream didn't do much. Overall, a decent three course meal, but not enough to leave an impression.
Pros: Risotto and salad
Cons: Dessert, ambience, and service

My boyfriend and I went to Eat for the DineLA event. Our reservation was at 8pm, and they said it would just be a few minutes so we should wait at the bar. They didn't come get us until 8:45. Then, they put us at a table that was obviously temporary for the event. Which means they forgot about us. Someone finally took our order, but after 20 minutes nothing had come out. Our waitress finally came by and was like, oh, did you not get your soup? No, we didn't get our soup. For an event with a prix fixe menu, you would think things would come out quickly. We didn't leave the restaurant until after 10. Worst service I have had in a LONG time. It made me never want to go back. Too bad, the food was really good.
Pros: Food was decent
Cons: SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE
