Editorial Review for Aqua Restaurant and Lounge – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
The subterranean space, formerly operated as the Hustler Club, basks in a Mermaid-style makeover of fish tanks and plasma screens set among dark-hardwood floors and lounge furniture. Squinting humans migrate, in semi-darkness, between two bars and a central stage featuring live performances from the likes of Dennis Quaid and weekend DJs. The dining room offers a two-handed menu of surf-and-turf dishes ranging from seafood bisque, Dungeness crab cakes and short ribs.

Insider Tips

Know Before You Go

The club gets off to a late start, with most nights not getting busy until after 9pm and staying packed well past 1am on weekends.

Parking

Skip the valet--the waits can be long--and opt for parking along Brighton Way or even Rodeo Drive, if spaces aren't available immediately in front of the club.

When to Go

Most weekends feature DJ promoters spinning house and light hip-hop, as well as touring bands with moonlighting celebrities.

this is a very fun place - especially good if you are in the BH area... kind of expensive - but what isn't these days? i would recommend - especially if you are just looking for a place to hang out with some friends (also it sometimes is kind of loud).

Pros: good fun and cool place

Cons: kind of expensive.

I thought this was a trendy place but unfortunately everyone in there is 50 and over. The service wasn't very good and it smelt kind of weird in the place. Almost as if someone threw up a bunch of times. Maybe it was the food. I am not sure but I will not go back there. Not my kind of crowd at all.

Pros: can't think of any

Cons: weird smell, old crowd
