Editorial Review for Bird Cage – by Martha Burr
In Short
Three levels of patios are nestled into a Studio City hillside hiding this sprawling, bohemian space. A romantic bar of dark wood, deep-toned velvet curtains and candles, opens into the decadent hookah lounge of giant divans, brocade pillows and lanterns. The top is an elegant perch, viewing the twinkling hills amid mod wooden tables and a leafy bower overhead. Upscale international cuisine features smoked fish trio on potato pancakes with caviar, chicken stuffed with duxelles, and bacon-wrapped scallops.

ParkingParking in front of the restaurant is limited, but spots can be found further up the hill on Eureka.

Last Tuesday was driving by, would not even pay attention to a small building, if not for the filming crews all over the place - and right away wondered what kind of a place it is? So, decided to stop by and look at the menu. Nothing to get excited about – prices looked like the Deli Place. Anyway, decided to make reservation – place looked very intriguing. Just came home and can not stop talking about it – what a precious place. Food was absolutely exquisite. Décor – like I’ve been to several places in one night. We had the dinner at the top patio, smoked hookah and drinks in the lounge. We also were offered to have desserts in V.I.P. on one of the beds, since it wasn’t booked. Server was a little slow, but we enjoy every minute with conversations and music. I will definitely be back and will bring friends.
Pros: I liked everything
Cons: nothing on the menu for children
