Editorial Review for The Kids Are Alright - CLOSED – by Kim Cooper

In Short
This funky boutique mainly serves the ladies, but gents can browse Outdoor Terrier tees and DID shoes. The decor is early classroom, with vintage desks and locker display racks. From lacy Victorian Mint tops, Mimo's loosely tied dresses and Moshiko's striking tops accented with big eyelets, metal hardware and leather--feminine style gets a workout. Artist-designed gifts include Warhol plastic dishes, House of Ingri stuffed monsters, screenprinted Salvor animal pillows and Marcel Dzama ghost lamps.

Insider Tips

Save Money

The big sales are post-Christmas and after summer, but there's always a rack of sale items and a bucket full of $20 and under clothing bargains.

The Extras

Can't decide between the paint-by-numbers poodle painting notebook or the giant bunny cookie jar? Gift certificates are available.

Look Good

Wondering what to do tonight? Pick up a Nuart Theater schedule and a stack of event fliers from the front window.

"Live Slow, Be Happy" was the first thing I read as I walked in. It was printed on a t-shirt that I bought that same day. I could not get enough of all of the original and unique creations. The lovely young lady named Jennison (sp?) working in the front was just an addition to this wonderland experience. So, where do I begin, . Really, if art inspires you this is the place to be. From beautiful and unique necklaces to handcrafted wallets and t-shirts that are simply uplifting. I shopped here maybe two years ago and I can't express enough how much of a difference it makes when the person helping you is sincere and genuine. So, a big Star for Jennison, the owners, and all of the super artist that are making it happen!!!!!! Thank you for your beautiful work!!!!

Pros: Variety for all ages

Cons: none

I usually come here to buy gifts for people. They've got a fantastic collection of unique items, in a wide range of prices. I usually walk out of there with stationary (they've got the hand-stitched notecards that I can't get enough of), some quirky piece of reading material (last time it was a book of notes passed in class by teens), and an item of clothing (buy 'em while you can, they buy in limited supply and do not usually restock the same items).

Pros: Friendly staff, terrific selection of goods

Cons: Occasionally pricey
