Editorial Review for Bar Lubitsch – by Michael Martin
In Short
From bar czar Sean MacPherson (Good Luck, Jones) and Jared Meisler (former Bar Marmont manager) comes this red-drenched vodka bar and dance club--a nod to Russian decadence. A crowd of Sunset traditionalists descends on the boxy entrance and into a Bolshevik-chic playground of elaborate chandeliers, Mao-red walls and a sexy spin on communist-era uniforms strutted by the staff. Keeping elements of its predecessor that worked, the dance floor and bar are still in the same place, albeit with a much more elegant design.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoThe bar is initially avoiding one-night event promotions and guest lists--instead offbeat DJs are regularly featured. Still, weekends are busy so try and arrive before 10pm.
What to DrinkA list of more than 200 vodkas spills over with innovative drinks ranging from the Cucumber Mojito to the Molotov cocktail.
Look GoodLocated halfway between Boys' Town and the hip part of Hollywood, your best bet for area bar-hopping is neighboring Winston's.

Went to a birthday party here awhile ago. Had a great time. The music was good and so were the drinks. I sort of agree with that last review...drinks are pricey, not a fan of that but I'm well paid so I don't mind too much...and yes, the drawing room has cheap drinks and cheap women...prolly the easiest place in l.a. for a one night stand...
Pros: great music, vibe and drinks
Cons: typical L.A. nonsense

I went to Lubitsch on a Friday night at 10:30 and had no problems with the line. I did, however, get the third degree for my Drivers License even though it was legitmate. Once inside, the opening room was full of casual not so great looking people. Going through a dark, red, corridor you end up at the backroom, where there are a few people dancing to some interesting spins (not the "latest" hits you would find at a supper lounge). If you're looking for the atmospher of a lounge, this isn't the place. This is a causual and lax environment. The worst part is the line at the bars. It took me and my girlfriends about 10 minutes to finally get our drinks. Price for a vodka soda was around $11
Pros: Casual, not long lines to get inside
Cons: Drink lines and over-the-top-security
