Great Service...Great Food...Great Cocktails. Never have I written a review but I am so shocked that anyone would say anything neg about this place!! It is the only place I will eat up on Main Street...I actually have planned dates around the hours they are open.

The only thing I wish they would change... is being closed on Sunday's.

really odd experience.... OK, something is amiss at this place. It just feels weird. Bad vibes. So, my dining friend and I heard there was a new spot on Main, and we were excited to go check it out! We tried to make a reservation, but there was no answer all 4 tims that we tried. Finally, we just decided we'd drop in and hope for the best. It was around 8pm on a Thursday night. We figured we'd be out of luck, but nope! We had our pick of any table in the restaurant. Over our first round of cocktails we decided it was just too much of a ghosttown to be comfortable eating there. I mean you have to wonder how they're keeping their food fresh when there's no one eating it?? Maybe if they can hang around another few months, and build up a clientele, maybe, we'll head back. eek!

i would be embarrassed to be seen here. Whoever answered the phone when I called for reservations was so rude I was appalled. And it's not like they were too busy. I was calling before they were even open! Besides that, I wish I had gone on citysearch before I'd gone in. The food was above average (though the wait was long) but the service and the ambience and the music and the decor? Don't bother.

Go to whatever they are calling that bar on 72 Market St. instead.

SoHo feel my heinie!. i resent that i based any recomendations at all on the reviews on this website. i went back and read the reviews thinking, what was i thinking?!? and, as a new york transplant, i know that the main attraction was the reviewer who said (and i quote) "SoHo feel!!!" i, and all new yorkers, should be insulted at the thought. anyone from the village should be absolutly up in arms at the thought! miserable time, horrible service (and if there's one thing ny is known for is the FOOD and the RESTAURANT SERVICE), idiot bartender and i cannot agree more with the horrible-ness of the vibe. people, even if it isn't busy in the middle of the week, how badly does it speak of the place if the place is dead on a weekend? and how much worse is it when the bartender AND server disapear. we couldn't even enjoy the delay nursing drinks! the food may be graded as above average in other parts of the country but, when you're on either side of the coast, a little more ought to be expected. one of my friends ordered the burger on recommendation and was sorely disappointed. go to hinano's or father's office if you want a good one of those. the only good thing i can come up with to say is at least the decor has been improved since it was shane.

Bad service, average food. After reading these reviews, I decided to give the new neighborhood restaurant a chance anyway and go for some drinks with friends. I was embarrassed to have volunteered this place. The service was just awful. We waited forever (over 15 mins) for our drinks and the server didn't seem to know anything about the menu. Also was never around when we needed service but was on our tails to clear off our plates, like we couldn't get out of there fast enough. Food was okay, just this side of average (may have been better if I hadn't believed all the hype below.) Very disappointing!

awful.. ugh. worst night ever. got there for a birthday party in the back room. ordered a round of martinis which the server promptly spilled all over a couple of people. she then ran away and never returned. replacement drinks were ordered as well as food..most people never got their food or drinks. seriously. we sat there for three hours until the first round of drinks FINALLY arrived at the behest of the manager (we had just been going to the bar at that point). they did give us free desserts, which was thoughtful but a little too late.

Better when it was Shane. The inside looks straight out of a budget makeover show - kind of looks cool, but up close it's cheap & tacky. For example my pet peeve is there is this fake suede cloth material they've put over the booths, but since it is not tacked down it keeps sliding and is annoying. Either reupholster your furniture, or leave it alone.

Food is okay, it was better when it was Shane. That pretty much goes for everything - it's okay, but it was better before. Especiallly the vibe, it is completely dead, it used to be pretty cool on the weekends but it is absolutely lame now.

Only thing I like about Malia now -- they have a great happy hour. Bar menu and well drinks are half off, all martinis $6 bucks.

Check it out and see for yourself. Check it out and see!

I heard of a new place just a few minutes from my house in Santa Monica called Malia restaurant. It is good to see a charming neighborhood restaurant where people can go and just relax and enjoy good food with friends. The people are friendly and they make you feel at home. Later in the evening after we partied with our friends in the patio section and burn off some energy.

It was a good time.

Thanks malia!

I can't believe anyone would rate this place well. I had heard about this place when it was Shane, but had never tried it. I walked in to Malia for the first time a few months ago when it had first opened for a drink before seeing a play. The place was dead, but this cute little asian bartender poured us drinks. We didn't get to try the food, and the drinks were a little pricier than what I'm used to, but the service was good. I went for the second time a couple of weeks ago thinking we would try the food. It was a Friday night and the place was DEAD. The dj didn't even start until past 11 o' clock and when it did the music choice sucked. The vibe in the place was just trying too hard--a bunch of wannabes in a badly decorated venue that tries just as hard (but doesn't quite make the cut). Plus, I used to bartend in college, and sitting at a bar watching a bartender who can't handle even a small crowd was irritating - made me want to jump back there and help her out. My friends and I decided to get pizza instead and were walking next door (Bravo Pizzeria!) when we overheard a group of girls walking out behind us complaining "this place blows." Couldn't have agreed more.
