great fresh salads, great place, very reasonable atmosphere friendly prices, great clean atmosphere, love tender greens, nice service, fresh quality ingredients
Great Salads. It is a great place and has a great selection of salads you cannot go wrong with.
Tender Greens for every meal!.
I LOVE TENDER GREENS. The seared ahi with side salad for less than $15 is healthy, filling, fresh and a great value.
I love everything about Tender Greens (just wish there were 100 more of them in LA).
FYI - They now serve wine and beer.
Always Perfect!. I love this bargain eatery. If left up to me I would eat here all the time. I wish their was one closer to my house in Venice. I suggested Tender Greens on Friday night, my friend works in Culver City. We had the hot plate with loads of fresh grilled veggies / half mashed potatoes, and some fabulous grilled steak, and simple salad of ceasar. I love the tomato soup so yummy. We split the toffee cup cake which was terrific. My only complain is that sometimes it is hard to get a table. But I always seem to get lucky! I will definitely be going back for sure.
Used to be My Favorite, But Beware of Disappearing Portion Sizes!. This USED to be my favorite place in LA. My boyfriend and I have recommended it to everyone we know, even hardcore New York foodies. But our last few experiences there have been a big disappointment. The food is still delicious, and I still love the concept, but (maybe because of the economy, or maybe because TG has just gotten too big for their britches), the portion sizes are now fraction of what they were! We both ordered the Hot Plate with salad, mashed potatoes and Oxnard vegetables and took note of the tasty-looking veggies behind the glass while we waited in line. When we got our plates, though, neither of us got even one of each of the 5 veggies! Past experiences gave us a hearty heap! The last time this happened, disappointed, we asked for one or two of the missing veggie, and the server graciously heated a few on the grill and gave them to us. THIS time, when we took both plates back and asked for the same thing, the server (possibly the owner, which is even worse) rudely tweezered out two matchstick-sized pieces of parsnip and gave them to us?cold. It was like getting kicked by a friend! We had driven far to get there and were used to being so perfectly satisfied. Yeah, times are hard, but I?d rather pay an extra dollar than feel gypped and be treated rudely at Sunday brunch. Guess we?ll be thinking twice about recommending TG in the future?
Overdose of Radness. Just went for lunch and had the Nicoise Salad with grilled cauliflower on the side and was blown away. It is fast, super fresh (you actually watch them grill the tuna/hanger steak/chicken/vegetables as you wait). I just love how high quality and convenient it is. Just go for lunch and breathe in the awesome.
Go to Farmer Boy's for a better Cobb Salad..
I have been looking forward to going to Tender Greens for quit a while to have a great Cobb Salad well the salad was not great. No blue cheese and the chicken was dark meat and way too much chopped egg. As we left my wife decided to check the menu to see if blue cheese was part of the salad and it was. They forgot the blue cheese.
The Cobb Salad at Farmer Boy's on Alameda is much better and has chicken breast not dark meat. It is also $5.00 less. It also does not have blue cheese. Bring your own blue cheese and you have a great Cobb Salad.
Great concept, a bit of a disappointment.. After hearing raves from so many friends about Tender Greens, figured it was time to give it a shot. What seems like such a great concept - a simple, fresh, healthy, choose your lettuce, choose your meat experience - really was surprisingly so so. I chose the Nicoise and my wife ordered the grilled vegetable sandwich. Everything LOOKED fantastic. I was just a bit let down that the food was kind of bland, nothing extraordinary. Not bad by any means, just not that good. All in all, I'd go back because it was, after all, only $10 for the salad - and while that's not necessarily inexpensive, it's cheap enough that I'll head back to sample other salads in search of perhaps the one that is worth coming back for.
Amazing deal, consistent quality time after time. Tender Greens consistently serves excellent meals at mind-boggling prices, whether for lunch or dinner. (This is my "best bargain in town" selection as you would easily pay three times the price elsewhere.) Ingredients are locally grown and fresh. Service is friendly, thought the efficient order-at-the-counter model is very casual. This isn't fine dining but it is healthful, tasty food at an unbeatable price, in a very pleasant, clean atmosphere.
healthy can also taste good..
i used to always associate salads with failed diets and last-resort dining hall mushes of stale vegetables slathered in some sort of creamy, heart-attack dressing. tender greens is stories up from those two stereotypes. it's like the ultimate artisan salad- i had one of the big salads - a delish tuna nicoise with a bunch of wholesome veggies in it. it's vegan friendly and also had some big slabs of meat for those who want a little more than a good salad. i didn't try the soups, but they looked good- and they have sweet things too.
loved their dedication to sustainable eating - a great plus. also, a good place to go for health buffs.
I LOVE TENDER GREENS!!!!!. The food is always consistently amazing. I feel so healthy whenever I eat there. It is worth the wait every time. I think it would be great if they expanded into full service dining with a beer and wine list at night. I would come every week!
