In Short – Cooking from family recipes that have been passed down for generations, this Mexican food joint offers environmentally conscious cheap eats in the Valley. Customers ordering the signature tacos here can mix and match seven different varieties of both fillings and salsas. Crispy or soft shells come stuffed with chicken, steak, grilled fish or mixed vegetables, while sauces range from a mild pico de gallo to sweet honey chipotle and spicy salsa arbol. The counter also serves up breakfast quesadillas in the morning and nachos for late-night snackers. There are plenty of options…
Never again!!

Party of four--ordered rice, chix burrito, chix tostada, beef nachos. Each thing was more disgusting than the next. The nachos were just a glob of melted cheese with white beans?! The quality of chicken in the burrito and tostada were awful. Frankly, wasn't quite sure it was chicken. There were flies swarming all around us on the outside dirty patio. Give me Los Fuentes in Reseda or Tony's in Valley Village any time!
- Pros: Fun hole-in-the-wall atmosphere
- Cons: The food, the service, did I mention the food?
Maybe I'm just not into "Organic Tacos"

I am The Taco Inspector.
First off, to be fair, maybe I shouldn't have been inspecting "organic tacos," since I like regular-tacos...from taco trucks...but oh well.
I loved Hugo's location, but upon arriving they told us no cameras (we were filiming my weekly "Taco Tuesday" program.) Sure, that's their right--but every taco place we go to welcomes us AND our cameras and are happy to have us.
Anyway, on with the review. The tacos tasted weird. They were expensive. The pico de gallo was bland. I gave Hugo's 2 out of 5 sombreros.
You can see the VIDEO review I did at Hugo's at thetacoreview dot com and judge for yourself!
The Taco Inspector is out!

This is a pretty good place. I tend to get the nachos with honey chipotle salsa. The only thing that is kinda weird is that they put their taquitos on top of beans. Seriously, who does that? By the time you get it home they're soggy.
- Pros: Fast, easy parking
- Cons: None
