great food, great place, great service, like 80s band, recommend gaslamp, really good entertainment, great live music
80's Rock!. I've been here a few times, once for my birthday celebration even. They have all the necessities for a great place to have fun. Live bands on stage, a good outdoor area for us smokers, and a great mood all around.
so much potential!. I went to hear an irish band that a friend reccomended & the first part of the evening was a lot of fun. We came early & had dinner while the band set up, the place was packed! Large stage, lots of tables & booths and spacious! The food was great! The band was better than I'd even hoped for, fun bouncy driving music intresperced with beautiful quieter songs, wonderful harmonies. Unfortunatly the sound system (or maybe the guy working it?) SUCKED. He was obviously used to one lead singer and a very standard 4 piece rock band setup. Not so good when the band has several different singers who trade off leads. Another attendee (turns out he was a sound guy too) attempted to give advice to the yahoo who was not paying attention but it had only minimal effect.. At about 10pm the band we came to see left & an '80's 90's coverband started blaying "live karioke" HORRIBLE and the "regular" crowd came in - a college student meat market! We left them to their mundane cover music & left with all the other patrons who came for the 1st band. If the band we came for had been hired for the night we'd have stayed till they closed the place doun! So much potential - what a loss
very good. I always come here when I get bored of just staying in at home. Great music and love the atmosphere.. Great way to get a little stress out of your life form a hard work week.. drinks are flowing and people here are awesome. Good spot to go with friends and let loose
Kind of Touristy.... But the food is good. Everything is good. But as a hip surfer type dude, I can't get too into the corporate scene... But it still works. Bottom line: You'll dig it.
Awesome Live music venue. I went to this place on a wed and wathced a live band had drinks and food. Fun vibe good food and strong drinks. What more do you need, Pleanty of space too.
Phenomenal atmosphere, food and wine list. I was so surprised to find the quality of food and their wine list to be so extensive. My friends swear by this place and their amazing weekends of football. I went for the first time and will be back for dinner.
Great Food!. Went with some friends on Thursday, and really enjoyed myself. The food was really startlingly good. I had the pulled pork sandwhich, it was awesome. The drinks were reasonably priced and full of alcohol, which i like. So, all in all? Great place to get a drink and some really good food. The sliders are really good too. The cover band was pretty talented and livened up the mood nicely. I would recommend this to anyone living in Long beach as nice place to party or just get some grindage.
GREAT FOOD! GREAT SERVICE! GREAT MUSIC! GREAT PRICES!.
My friends and I went on a Thursday night to check out the food and the live performance of The Thugs - we were thoroughly impressed. The music was awesome, the atmosphere was casual, the drinks were STIFF, the food was great (got the sliders + fries - thumbs up!), and the prices were right.
The crowd was varied, from early 20s to a few old timers. All of them seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Also, take some of the earlier negative reviews with a grain of salt. The Gaslamp is under new ownership/management as of November, 2009, which may explain why my friends and I didn't observe any of the negative experiences as described by earlier reviews. We honestly had a great time from start to finish.
Give this place a try if you are looking for a night of great food/drinks, great service, great value, and great live music with your friends. You won’t be disappointed.
Citysearch Editorial Review. This fun food and drinking spot keeps things a little romantic with candlelit tables and cozy booths. Friendly hostesses and bartenders welcome guests, while the nightly entertainment (and no-cover charge policy) promises there will never a dull moment. The extensive menu of classic American favorites includes burgers and sandwiches, pizza and pastas, appetizers like chicken skewers and bacon mac-and-cheese, and a variety of daily dinner specials and signature entrees like braised shortribs, mushroom chicken and seared ahi tuna. Although there's something going on every night, weekends are the busiest. The restaurant owners recommend coming in for dinner and staying for the fun!
It's too bad....
The fact that this place has never been raided is an indication of how paid off everyone might be. The menu and kitchen are a sincere effort, but the questionable 'services' this place promotes are alarming and underworldly . The arrogance of the security staff makes me consider that organized crime is NOT on the decline! Oh well, that's life in the USA i guess...
I would NOT recommend this place to any respectable or law abiding citizen or family!
