Editorial Review for Mia Sushi – by Martha Burr

In Short
This upscale, stylish space is Eagle Rock's entry into trendy sushi-ville. Hipsters and young professionals flock to this artsy Zen-modern room, which is decorated with giant, gilded Buddha carvings, flickering with votives and rocking to a clubby beat. An idyllic patio features a glass waterfall fountain, bamboo and stone. The menu includes a full selection of sushi, specialty rolls like a traditional California with baked lobster and eel sauce, and entrees like seafood tempura and grilled filet mignon.

Insider Tips

Look Good

The restaurant's interior is fairly intimate, but the patio is an excellent space for a larger party, and may be reserved. There's an 18-percent gratuity included on parties of six or more.

Parking

The valet is convenient, but nearby street parking is usually readily available.

What to Drink

Premium hot and cold sake, beer and a few select wines are served; the corkage fee is $9.

Kazu (I think thats the way his name is spelled) the head sushi chef, is the best in town. I dont even have to tell him what I want - with just a few visits, he already knows what I want. And if I am feeling adventurous, I let him suprise me with one of his special on the fly creations. This is my favorite local spot. I have brought in a few dates here and they were impressed with it all.

I reluctantly suggested this place to my girlfriends for our girl's night out after reading a few negative comments on this page but felt compelled to go because I have heard that this place is actually good. I'm one to draw my own opinion. I'm glad I did! The food was delicious, the service was very attentive, and vibe was cool and no the music wasnt too loud - it was actually at just the right level. We will definitely go back.

Pros: Quality of the Sushi, Sushi Chefs are awesome, service is friendly
