Editorial Review for Hyde – by Michael Martin
In Short
Located in the old North space, but far-dressier than its predecessor, the first-floor lounge features leather and crocodile-trimmed upholstery with oversized Monkeywood tables. Under a pounded-copper ceiling, flickering candles suspended from the walls add an elegant touch. The bar offers a small plates menu of Asian fusion dishes, ranging from inventive sushi rolls to salmon sashimi. A simple DJ booth, dressed-up with Mac-mixing machine and heavy tech-equipment, features rotating rock DJs catering to A-listers like Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoFridays and Saturdays features lengthy guest lists--try for a bottle service reservation or expect a hefty wait since the club only accommodates about 100 people. It's a little easier to get in on weekdays.
ParkingWeekends offer a packed parking lot and jammed valet--try across the street at 8000 Sunset. Note that the gates close promptly at 2am.
What to DrinkNot limited to just fancy vodkas or champagnes, bottle service can include vintage selections of Scotch or gin. There are nightly cocktail specials as well.

I’ve always had fun at hyde… it really isn’t THAT hard to get into so long as you play by the rules… girls bring other hot girls… guys be good looking and pop a bottle. The candles really add character to the place. The crowd is mostly fashionable rich tourists and scenester patrons (not a bad thing). Everyone has a table/ bottle service. After a few years you will still find yourself in the patio chattin’ next to your favorite TMZ star. The bartenders are phenomenally hot and utilize fresh ingredients too! i promote this club on certain hot nights. For guestlist consideration send me an email w/ "hyde guestlist" in the subject and include what date, how many people in your party, a myspace/facebook link and contact info for me to get back to you my email is cjatthedoor@gmail com
Pros: intimate, classy
Cons: parking

I love checking out new places especially when the art and design inside are over the top. But for some reason the people who get attracted to these places are no deeper than statues at a wax museum. Hyde is one of those places. The space, service and ambiance just get wasted by the clientele! SBE has some great places though. Kudos to the design work its beautiful inside. and the music is at least better than at the Villa. I guess it's very hard to make a lot of money and have really cool people at the same time. But LA's underground scene wants to keep the jokers in places like Hyde to ensure they don't crowd our vibe.
Pros: Gorgeous inside, decent music
Cons: the droll people
