amazingly beautiful place, worst club, good bartenders, great drinks, great hiphop dance music, great house music, rude door people
Obnoxious door people. I went there on a monday night and it was awful. The place was empty and the door people made us wait so long to find there was noone inside. Stay clear!
horrible. the owner shereen was a drunk idiot. she introduced herself and was drunk and fake and talked trash on her staff. the place was crowded. i dont mind small places, but it was not that cool of a crowd. really trashy i should say. there are 100 better places out there for sure.
Great house music..
So I went to Shag yesterday (Saturday night) for the first time. They were playing great house music. They had a handful of lame songs, but overall it was really good. It?s been awhile since I?ve heard good house music at a club in LA. A couple of friends in our group don?t like house music, so they had a terrible experience at club.
Despite the small dance floor, we had enough room to dance most of the time. It would get too crowded when a really?and I mean a ?really? good-- song came on. Oh yeah, it was also a little warm in there as well. I wished they would?ve turned on the AC or open the windows or something.
We got there around 11:15 PM and we were on someone?s guest list. No problem, we only waited in line for 5 minutes. The girls got in free and the guys had to pay $10 --- which isn?t too bad considering I got us on the list by responding to some random club promoter email.
Oh, one last thing. The crowd was different than how the other reviewers described it. With exception of a couple of meathead shirts, the crowd was not white trash at all. There were actually a lot of hot girls in there and it was a good girl/guy ratio. The crowd was good.
I will go there again.
I get daily text message spams from them despite my calling them to stop!

Trashy!!. I went to this place about 5 months ago, but when I saw it was voted best singles scene, I was SHOCKED. This place was SO AWFUL. Thankfully we didn't have to pay the $20 cover or wait in line...but as soon as we walked in I was ready to leave. It was full of the trashiest people, and usually you have SOME cool people mixed in, but not here. It was mainly trashy women with obvious/poorly done plastic surgery, mixed with short guys on steroids and fake tans. I am not exaggerating. We went because we were supposed to meet up with my friend's friend, so we tried to have a drink thinking it might make it more tolerable. Honestly, none of us could even stand it long enough to finish our drinks- that's how bad this place was! I can't think of any better word to describe the scene than trashy. It's possible it was a totally off night, but you couldn't pay me to try it again. Waste of a $20 valet and drinks we couldn't finish, but worth it to leave ASAP.
They should close and reopen again.
When this club was Concord, it was great. I went the other night and was shocked at how bad it was. When I arrived at the club, there was an obnoxious promoter that was hitting on my date. That set the pace for the evening. Upon entering the club, I expected your average, good looking Hollywood crowd. The bar was filled with dorky guys, which as a heterosexual guy is not a selling point. Other than that, it was mostly middle aged divorced woman and ugly trashy girls dancing on the floor. Needless to say, the promoter brought in an interesting crowd. There were no celebrities, important people, or even anyone with class there. And, from what I understand talking to others that have been the first and last time like me, that is what you normally get at Shaq, Shag, whatever, I am sure it will change soon.
We get inside and the only good part of the evening was the music. That has more to do with the DJ than the club though. Then, I paid an enormous amount for watered down drinks. And, while I was there, a fight broke out. I witnessed a patron get punched by one of the classy girls that was brought into Shaq that evening. The security guards were too busy flirting with the these women to stop the fight or pay attention. I heard one say he saw the whole thing, but I actually saw him talking to a girl and not watching the crowd like he was supposed to. So, there is no safety either and a lot of riff raff and trashy Hollywood wannabees.
For the owners of Shaq, I think it is back to the drawing board. I am embarrassed I wasted an hour there. And, I know a self respecting party girl like Lindsey Lohan would never step foot in an bar like this and if she did, she'd run right out the back.
Friday nights are hot, hot, hot!!!. This is one of Hollywood's best up and coming clubs. The drinks and the crowd are delicious! The decor is dark with splashes of crystal to illuminate the dance floor. The club has a large smoking patio which provides a great place to chat with fellow partiers. I spotted Lindsay Lohan on the dance floor last time I was there!
absolute waste of time. I've never been treated so poorly in my life by door staff. We were told by door staff that the club would open at 10:30 (it was a little before 10 when we got there), so we had to wait in line. We were on the supposed guestlist. All the while, they're letting people in that didn't wait in either of the lines. They also walked the line trying to sell bottle service too, which we found out we had to stand in the other line for anyways. They held the line so long that people were actually leaving to go somewhere else. We, unfortunately, were waiting for the birthday girl to show. When she did get there, management denied having any knowledge of her calling and making arrangements with them for her party. So here we are with like 30-40 people, standing outside the club, and they're not letting us in. Are they in business to make money or are they just stupid? Finally, they let 10 of us in, not including the birthday girl who was still outside trying to work things out to get the rest of her party in. And...it's practically empty. Too make matters worse, the music suks and the tiny drinks are waaay overpriced. So we left and went elsewhere and had a dam good time.
Not all that!. Over priced! Door Attitude. Went with 2 girls and had to wait nearly one hour only to get in and it was empty.. we dont need this in Hollywood. What a horrible crowd although it wasnt a weekend nite we went. Manager was cute tho. Music was ok.
Not impressed. Alot of talk for nothing. Went for a nightout with some girls.. People waited outside to get in then when we got in there was noone inside. Unfriendly door people, noone inside and no atmosphere. Not going to go back . Trying too hard to be trendy and failing miserably. Sorry but Hollywood attitude is soooo old now.
