Editorial Review for Bar 21 – by Michael Martin
In Short
Located between the NoHo Arts district and downtown Burbank, former dive Grady's has been converted into a hip drinking den via impresario Craig Trager. The single-room space features circular black vinyl booths, red carpeting and a long '60s-style bar. Exposed-brick walls glimmer with candles and sconces above each booth. The lounge promotes a friendly door policy, which means zero guest list and prompt entry and for both weekday drinking and the DJs spinning rock on most weekends.

Insider Tips
ParkingThe small adjacent lot fills up early, but street parking is amply available with few restrictions.
Know Before You GoA former haven for post-studio happy hour, beware that the new hours have the bar opening a little later, at 6pm during the week.
What to DrinkThe selection of microbrews and imported lagers can compete with the best pub in terms of beer on tab and by the bottle.
When to GoWednesday nights feature half-price drinks from 9pm-11pm. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday 6pm-9pm and feature $3 well drinks, domestic drafts and shot specials.

I think it's generally odd for an entire bar to hush when new people walk in the door, especially when you're new to the town and just getting a feel for "where to go." Forget "odd"; it's downright disconcerting. In fact, I think the only people who didn't pause their conversations to watch my friend and me walk through the door were the bartenders and the doorman, leaving me with an overall feel that no matter what I did, I would not be welcome there. I won't be returning.
Pros: Small, if you like that
Cons: Awkward crowd

Bar 21 is awesome. Perfect place to chill, have a drink, listen to music, and have good conversations. Great atmosphere. Thursday and Friday nights are the best because of the Bartenders. Couldn't ask for anything more.
Pros: Everything!!!
Cons: none!
