Spitz brings you a sandwich sensation unlike any other. Made from either minced lamb and beef, chicken, or homemade falafel, the meats are slow-roasted to perfection in custom vertical broilers, which allow their juices to percolate and self-infuse for a product of unmatched taste and texture. Only when you order is the meat shaved into paper-thin strips and stuffed into Panini-grilled focaccia bread or wraped in Panini-grilled lavash bread. Salad and plate options are also available. Don't leave without trying our amazing gelato, so good it was named "BEST IN THE UNIVERSE" by Time…

In Short – A longtime European street-food sensation, the Turkish-born doner kebab has been introduced to the Eastside at this little hipster joint near Occidental college. An airy room pops in sage, ochre and purple tones, and there's a sweet front patio with flowers and umbrellas. Behind a glass counter, minced lamb, beef and chicken slow-roast on custom vertical broilers percolating their juices and 12 spices. Paper thin strips are shaved off and stuffed into panini-toasted foccacia with veggies and tzatziki sauce.

Best sandwich I have had in a long time!

by diablito at Citysearch

I finally broke down and decided to try to find parking by this lil interesting looking shack. I was met by a very friendly gentleman at the counter who advised me to check out the menu if this was my first time. I decided for the classic focaccia doner sandwich with sweet potato fries as a side. The meal comes in a small basket and is just the right size for lunch. The sandwich was amazing! The meats, the cucumbers, the tomatoes all tasted sooo fresh! The bread was light, tasty and just the right size to not overwhelm the other flavors. I was very impressed by the taste of the sauce they use. It's quite delicious yet not over the top, allowing all the flavors to come through. The service was great, especially if you consider it's set up like a lil burger shack. I am definately going back to try some more specialties!

  • Pros: The food and service were superb! They also offer KCRW discounts!
  • Cons: Parking can be a real pain around here!

Delicious!!!!!

I just tried this place for the first time and I will definitely become a regular! I ordered the Falafelite, wow! It was so full of favor! Some vegetarian options at other places can be bland but wow everything at Spitz was exploding with flavor! If you like your food well seasoned then you'll love this place! The sweet potato fries were really good too! I ordered half fries, half sweet potato fries, which was a perfect combo of sweet and salty! Oh, and get a side of the greek yogurt sauce to dip your wrap and fries in!

  • Pros: Great food and fast & friendly service
  • Cons: Uneven floor on the outdoor dining patio
