One of several outlets for Hans Rockenwagner's yummy baked goods. This place is brand spanking new & is very pretty. The display case shows off their wonderful selection of breads and pastries. Kinda pricey though.

I love their 5 grain muffins, they're HEAVY but delicious. Great fiber. Also their pretzel bread is yummy but I have not had other food there yet.

This is a great little hole-in-the-wall bakery. It's walking distance from my house, and I frequently pop by to grab a loaf of fresh-baked bread. Hans R. does a great job of providing the basics and some really interesting baked goods. It's got coffee and sandwiches and a couple of sidewalk tables. A very pleasant place to hang and chat and chew. It is not a full on restaurant or cafe. Just a great Euro-style bakery.

Look Good:
The menu changes often, with special breakfast quiches on occasion, but chefs may be able to make yesterday's special on request.
Save Money:
You can frequently find the bakery's goods such as brioche at up to half-off the store price at the weekly Santa Monica Farmer's Market on Wednesdays.
Know Before You Go:
Be sure and stop for cash before visiting--the store only accepts cash or checks. There's a bank ATM at Washington and Centinela a few blocks east.
