Editorial Review for Alejandro's – by Martha Burr

In Short
This sunny, tropical family-run place exudes warmth from both inside and outside the kitchen. Featuring a curvy bamboo bar and the lacquered cabinets, the airy room sports ceiling fans, mirrors, parquet floors and comfy padded chairs. Local families crowd around heaping platters of traditional favorites, while Eagle Rockers and Silver Lakers dine on ginger mussel soup, deep-fried pork knuckle, chicken adobo, and sizzling coconut shrimp. For dessert, there are flan, sticky rice cakes and off-the-menu, banana-leaf wrapped banana and jackfruit.

Insider Tips

Where to Sit

The four semicircular booths under the front windows are the best seats, and can hold up to a dozen with added chairs.

What to Drink

Smoothies and milkshakes are made with fresh fruits like cantaloupe, pineapple, banana, watermelon and green mango. Classic Filipino halo-halo mixes coconut strips, sweet beans, ice, milk, cream, flan and cherry.

5 Star Rating: Highly Recommended

I plan to bring my friend back to this place because it has such a comfy feel to it and the food is absolutely delicious. The place is family run, so the service is friendly and homey. The milkfish, which I'm told is native to the Phillipines and is exported directly from the islands, was just crispy enough and very flavorful. I also liked the mango smoothie and the seafood soup, which reminded me a bit of gumbo. Yum!

Pros: Good food, good prices and a comfortable dining experience

Cons: Limited parking, no breakfast...yet

My son had his first birthday, and we had them cater the party. Everybody loved the food and I asked where I orderd them. Everything that I ordered was impeccably tasty. I would highly recommend them for catering and for dining...
