view & uploadbest european pastries, best little bakery, great customer service, delicious everything, better natas pastries, amazing variety, love place
So delicious!. I recently had to find a breakfast place for friends that has pancakes and waffles instead of just the usual too healthy egg white omelette and fruit, so we ended up at Natas Pastries. It feels like a little European vacation in Sherman Oaks. The decor is charming and the staff is friendly and attentive. I loved being served steamed milk for my coffee and having water served at the table in an old fashioned bottle as well as having enough yummies in my omelette to make it seem as decadent as the pancakes. Natas is truly a quiet little gem of a restaurant.
Citysearch Editorial Review. This charming pastry shop offers Angelenos a taste of Portugal in the middle of a Valley strip mall. (Hint: It's right next to Casa Vega.) Owned by Lisbon-born Fatima Marques (who can usually be found behind the counter), the tiny blue-and-white tiled space first greets guests with a gleaming bakery case that proudly presents the day's sweet treats. Those who have time for more than a to-go treat can grab a seat inside the quaint cafe or at one of the sidewalk tables for breakfast, lunch or dinner. There are plenty of traditional dishes like kale-and-potato soup, empadaos (an oven-baked dish of ground beef topped with mashed potatoes), bacalhau (salted cod) and, of course, the namesake natas--sweet and creamy custard-filled puffs--whose recipe dates back to the 17th century.
A taste of home. I grew up in a Portuguese-American community and have spent many vacations in Portugal and Madeira. I can assure anyone wondering about authenticity that Natas pastries are as good, or better, than any Portuguese sweets I've ever had. I love everything they sell and the owners and counter staff could not be nicer. Here is a place that truly deserves great success and merits the nice user reviews it's gotten. GO but not if you're trying to lose pounds.
Best bakery in the valley. I love this place. Ive been going since it opened a couple years back. Now they've expanded and serve breakfast and lunch in a really cute seating area. The food is great!
Portugese Sweets. I like sitting at one of the outdoor tables, sipping coffee and noshing on a nata or whatever unusual treat I've chosen from the bakery display case. It's different than any other bakery around, even if I don't always love the treat I've picked that day. The staff is really nice.
Best bakery cafe in the Valley.
I had to leave a note in support of my favorite bakery/cafe . I have been coming to this bakery since it opened a few years ago. Being a teacher I have little time on breaks but always made time to come with my colleges and have these amazing sweets and their delightful coffee.
I am a fan of many of their things, one of them, their brownies are to die for. Everything here is made from scratch and you can tell. I had their breakfast and lunch, the food is unbelievable, truly homemade!
Great service, great food, great coffee, best brownies ;-)!
I like it.
It's the only place in Los Angeles were you can get "pasteis de bacalhau (cod)" that's a savory Portuguese treat and also the "natas" in Portugal they call that pasteis de Belem.
The owner is Portuguese and very friendly.
Why 4 stars? Well the other pastries there are good but no phenomenal, nothing out of the ordinary.
Wonderful homemade desserts!. I've never had Portuguese pastries before, but my first time at Nata's was outstanding! I actually found it on citysearch and decided to check it out myself. I was staying in Glendale at the time, so the drive was a little further, but it was totally worth it! Located in the corner of a small shopping center, Nata's is a quaint little pastry shop that you can smell as soon as you get out of the car! As soon as I entered the shop there was already a friendly face waiting to offer me samples and explain to me all the different cakes and pastries in the glass cases. Their macaroons are amazing and come in different sizes. I also had this chocolate mousse (I forget the name) and it was rolled in nuts and chocolate. AMAZING. Their signature nata is basically egg custard/flan in a flakey pastry shell. It was sweet, but light in taste and had a hint of caramel. Delicious! I definitely took some to go! Everything everyone says about Nata's is true! I will definitely visit again.
You must visit this fabulous bakery!. Great service, wonderful pastries, a must visit for anyone looking for something delicious and different - no matter where you live in L.A.! Fatima's creations are absolutely incredible!
YUMMMMMMY!!!! =). As a Portugese native....I can honestly say there is nothing, I mean NOTHING, better than the delicious pastries at Natas. The first time I ever walked into this place, I was completely overwhelmed! Everything is so well done, and everything smells delicious too. Also, the place itself is always super, super clean! The owner is really sweet and will take the time to explain all the different pastries. They don't only have Portuguese pastries...but also carry a variety of European style pastries. There is always something new to try!! I have a few favorites that everyone needs to try: Natas, Bolas de Berlin, and their fruit tarts. Just amazing! Thank you Natas Pastries for bringing home a little closer to me =)
