What People Are Saying About Sushi Dokoro Ki Ra La

In Short – Nine tables and a 10-seat seat sushi bar make up this minimalist neighborhood eatery. Blond wood chairs, concrete floors, white tablecloths, art prints and fresh flowers decorate the pretty room, which is busiest at lunchtime with local workers and shoppers. The chefs--trained in Tokyo's Tsukiji Fish Market--focus on the fish, offering popular standards like toro and hamachi, but also rarer items like engawa (halibut fin muscle). Other dishes include grilled lobster, fried soft shell crab and rib-eye teriyaki.
No-nonsense, delicious Sushi
by ScottVanT at Citysearch
Everything about this place is minimalist, but pleasant -- concrete block walls, white-on-white decor. The dishes are the same way -- I've seen more artfully presented sushi in my life, but then I didn't order any of the more exotic items so maybe I missed out.
Service was quick and attentive, and the food was delicious, including the "house" sake. The spicy tuna in the roll was chopped a little too finely but that's really my only complaint.
Given the no-frills vibe, the prices would seem a bit steep in any other part of town -- but around here, $40 for a nice lunch is par for the course.
- Pros: Quick, attentive service
- Cons: A little pricey
Best Sushi place in LA!
by ushiushi at Citysearch
I had about 15 pieces of Sushi and 2 hand rolls at lunchtime. I got really satisfied and enjoyed them a lot. The Omakase course came with Tuna, Albacore, Scallop with truffle, Crab with miso, stirred Kinmedai(Alfonsino), Toro(fatty tuna), and another chopped Toro, Anago(eel), Baby yellowtail, Beef with garlic, incredible Uni(sea urchin), Ikura(salmon roe) on a stirred Salmon, Aji(moonfish), Saba(mackerel), Crab Hand roll and Toro with green onion Hand roll, served one by one on the small plate. Every sushi looks very beautiful. Most are already seasoned with some kind of their special sauce or salt, so you don?t need soy sauce so much. Their special salt and sauce make their sushi unbelievable tasty and bring up the flavor of raw-fishes. Don't forget SAKE imported from Japan. The Sake goes with Sushi and those combinations make you excited!
Quality and Fresh Sushi in Bamboo trees.
by GuruFood at Citysearch
I have visited many traditional sushi restaurants in Tsukiji district of Tokyo for last ten years and it is one of my top enjoyments I am fortunate to have in my life. I found Sushi KiraLA in Bevery Hills to be equal in taste and quality compared to those in Tokyo. It is very hard to find a trained sushi chef in LA area but KiraLA has now one of those rare talents.
Bamboo trees outside are real and so refreshing. Many menu are seasonal and also called OMAKASE meaning you will be served a bunch of sushi specially and daily selected by Sushi chef, because as you know sushi is made of fish and they are different everyday in freshness and seasonarity. KiraLA has a wide range of menu for those who need the freshness in time. KiraLA also serves economical lunch and dinner set menu, too. If you are one of those who like quiet setting, KiralA is open throughout afternoon, and you are never under pressure to enjoy your late lunch.
- Pros: Fresh, Variety, Seasonal Menu, Friendly small setting.
- Cons: Busy during peak hours.
