Awesome!!!! Drinks! Dancing! Had a blast!!! – Had a great night dancing, laughing, drinks were awesome!!!!
Editorial Review – Vive Latin-Asian Fusion Restaurant, located in Old Town Pasadena, offers a fusion of creative Latin American and Asian cuisines.
eat here and suffer from boredom – what a disappointment this restaraunt turned out to be. the food lacked any originality and the taste was impaired. anyone going here looking for authentic or at least somewhat tasteful food will leave hungry and disappointed. the executive chef failed to capture the essence of exotic food. there was no latin asian fusion because each food was segregated in taste and idea. the service was good but that is about all that is memorable about this place. oh and the mojitos are good but even after three, the food still tastes atrocious. no one should subject themselves to this food even if this was the last place on earth. go somewhere with heart, soul, and flavor.
GREAT MUSIC,HORRIBLE SERVICE! – WE WENT TO VIVE FOR DINNER FOR MY GIRLFRIENDS SISTER BIRTHDAY PARTY.WE SAT THERE FOR OVER AN HOUR BEFORE WE EVEN GOT A DINNER MENU,THEN WHEN WE DID GET THE MENU OUR WAITRESS FORGOT ALL ABOUT US AND THE MANAGER HAD TO GET THE BARTENDER TO TAKE OUR DINNER ORDERS WHICH CAUSED EVEN MORE CONFUSION WHEN IT CAME TIME TO PAY! I HAVE TO ADMIT THAT THE SALSA BAND THERE IS EXCELLENT AS WELL AS THE DANCING ENVIROMENT.MAYBE THEY NEED TO HIRE MORE PEOPLE TO MAKE THINGS RUN SMOOTHER!
avoid all together!! beware of the lights! – a great friend of mine was there a while ago for a mixer and burned her leg while sitting at the bar. apparently the light under the bar burned her leg, causing a second degree burn! when my friend confronted the owners, let me tell you, their "friendly" attitude changed instantly. rather they became defensive and uncompromisable. i warn you to think twice about going to this place, let alone sitting at the bar!!!!! take your money elsewhere.....
This is a night club – When we first walked in I hesitated because the floor was so dirty - well, it turns out it's actually a dance floor. We went for an early dinner at 6:30, and we were the only ones in the entire restaurant. We asked when the place would pick up and the waitress said it was really a night club. The only reason we went in was because the menu outside said it was still happy hour - the happy hour list has about five $10 meals - otherwise it has a VERY short menu of $20-$30 entrees. I had an appetizer of chicken empanadas - they were wonderful - and my husband had asian/cuban fusion beef ribs from the happy hour menu. The happy hour drinks consist of a $4 mojito and $5 beers. We enjoyed our time but wouldn't go back for dinner because there's nothing else on the menu I'm interested in. We plan to go back for the salsa night on Sundays that the waitress told us about though. This place doesn't even feel like a restaurant.
Great salsa nights – The food (latin-asian fusion) is tasty but overpriced. Every Sunday night there is a salsa band and some great dancing (even for inexperienced dancers like me). The last time I was there for salsa night, I ordered a glass of water from the bar and the guy wanted to charge me $2.00 for it. MInd you, this was a glass of regular tap water! I thought it was a joke, but the bartender was serious (I ended up refusing the glass of water). Beware!!!
Is it a club or is it a restaurant? – The food is Cuban/Asian fusion, which makes for an interesting (read: spicy) taste, and the decor follows suit. There are cusiony couches in the lounge near the bar, and that's where things get a little sticky. If you're having dinner in that area, you may find yourself alarmed as you watch your server bravely navigate the bar traffic while balancing your food and drinks on a hefty tray. Worry not! There are bouncers available to clear a path. The service was fast and friendly and the bartenders are very conversational. Nice place to hang out with a date or watch the game with friends.
