In Short – Santa Monica Boulevard's link in this sleek chain maintains its trademark playful state-of-the-art take on the conventional grocery store with inspired lighting, dark wooden floors, huge windows and colorful walls. In addition to high-concept composition, the specialty and international foods, classic snacks and beverages, diverse selection of lifestyle merchandise--from stationery and anime comics to grooming kits--and first-rate deli shelling out fresh paninis and soup, make it as convenient as it is trendy. – –
I dig this place!
by bettyo70 at Citysearch
Yes, some of their items are expensive. I mean, $4.19 for a can of SPAM?!! BUT... overall I'm really happy that this place exists for the following reasons:
1) There are few places in LA that open late when you need to grab something good to eat (to take home);
2) They have a lot of Asian food that I can only find if I drive out of my way (Chinatown or Little Tokyo); so I get to load up on stuff I love, like yakisoba (Japanese noodles), seaweed salad, UCC ice coffee in a can, sushi, etc.;
3) Friendly staff; and
4) Lots of good desserts.
I'm a regular here!
- Pros: convenience; clean and organized; Asian food; friendly staff; pleasant environment
- Cons: parking; expensive items; wish they had more Asian veggies (like bok choy) available
great ethnic food choices

It's a little expensive, but they have a great selection on hard to find ethnic foods and beverages. Great soups too! I wouldn't do all my shopping here because sometimes they don't have everything you'd need in stock, but it's great for some specialty shopping.
