As a college student, spending $90 dollars on a sports massage is a bit difficult to swallow, even with people from all corners telling you that it is essential that you get one. I realize that $100 dollars (or $90 for me, as a triathlon club member) is totally normal for a Los Angeles massage, but for a student, that is quite a bit of change! However, after a few weeks of my running getting more and more painful, and my body feeling more and more exhausted, I knew it was time to spend the cash. My neck had been aching, my lower back twinging, and my legs were tight as drums. Now, after a sports massage from Dennis, I realize now that the cost is not simply a cost, but an investment in my body and mind. Dennis is a truly wonderful person, as well as the most ridiculously talented masseur. He welcomed me in to his beautiful new office (right on the water on Marina del Ray) and gave me a very brief tour with a true sense of pride. After that, he asked me my injuries, anything he needed to be aware of, etc. After the massage began, I was completely hooked. The feeling is intense, but only painful for moments at a time. Most of the time, it is quite simply blissful and delightul. I am a talker, so for most of the time, Dennis and I gabbered away about Triathlon and massage. He made me feel right at home and so comfortable. After the massage, I was completely zenned out. I got up feeling incredibly serene, without any pain! It was miraculous. Today is the day after, and I still feel so much better and more flexible than I have for weeks. If I had the money, I would gladly go once a week. However, the nicest thing I can possibly say is that even though it's a bit expensive (only for me, it is completely normal price for a Los Angeles massage) I will save up and go once a month to improve my performance and spiritual well-being. Thank you Dennis, for such a wonderful afternoon!

Pros: Incredible massage, free (and easy) parking, beautiful office

Cons: That he's not located in downtown LA! ;-)

I used to think a massage was just a massage. . . whether it was a walk-in storefront or a glitzy spa. Then I heard about LA Sports Massage through my running group in Santa Monica. As a marathon runner and avid cross-trainer, I tend to tweak, tense, and knot up my muscles pretty frequently. The therapists at LA Sports Massage have done an amazing job at identifying exactly what is tweaked, tense, and knotted and use specialized and advanced techniques specific to relieving sports related injuries. I have had numerous massages with both Dennis and Dan and would (and have) recommend(ed) them to anyone that leads an active lifestyle and desires a very personalized massage. LA Sports Massage sponsored free massages after the LA Marathon for my running club and I received the most amazing post-race massage from Dan. The tense aches and pains withered away under his firm and focused hands. Two days later, I was back on the table to see Dennis - not necessarily because I NEEDED it, but more because it just feels that great and I am convinced it impacts and improves my running performance. I have their number in speed dial - just in case I happen to have a REALLY bad long distance training run. And they have accomodated a very last minute request graciously and efficiently! If you are an extreme athlete, a weekend warrior, or a casual exercise enthusiast - don't waste your time with impersonal uneducated therapists. LA Sports Massage continues to train, learn, and stay abreast of advanced techniques and biological structure. I only trust my marathon legs to the hands of Dan and Dennis. I will never be just a walk-in somewhere again.

Pros: Dan's hands! Dennis' personality!

Cons: Is there really a con to getting a great massage overlooking the marina?
