Best food in Long Beach – I'm one of the MITAKI customer for a long time about more than three years. I usually go in lunch time like twice a week. There's enogh space for parking and nice place for shopping too.

The food is always fresh and delicious and very quick. Specially the price is very resonable. These days my favorit is super bowl. Really big enough and you can try little bit of everything. So if you are very hungry and not too much money, I absolutly recomend MITAKI. Just go and try.

Mitaki Gone WIld – At first look, Mitaki looks like a cool, laid-back little pip of a restaurant. I initially wasn't wrong when I had assumed that. The inside looked just as expected from what I had thought. It had seating to the left in sort of an alcove like setting, and to the right it opened up and had more seating. Further in back of the restaurant, there was even a little Mitaki history and mission statement plastered on the wall for all to see. I found the place somewhat inviting. I didn't really want to go anywhere else either. I was too hungry at that time and needed the sustenance.

I had wanted chicken all day; but for some reason I veered away from that decision. Instead, I ordered eel. Yeah I know right?! What was I thinking? I love eel. Everyone that knows I like fish, knows that I have to have eel. I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Something kind of nudged me and told me not to have the eel. I started to get the feeling that maybe I should of listened to my feelings. It would certainly save me a lot of trouble in the long run.

So I finally ordered. The cashier was didn't know anything about the menu and could barely tell me what came with my food special. I didn't ask how fresh the eel was. I had assumed that it would be as fresh as other places. I didn't give it too much thought. I knew that sushi places and places that serve anything raw to customers, have stricter regulations. After about 5 minutes I got my order. When I got the food home, I was ready to dig in. At first look, I was pleasantly surprised. Then it immediately turned to wonder. As I ate my Unagi Bowl, I realized that my initial feeling was correct. The bowl was situated with 5 pieces of eel, on top of rice, with carrots and broccoli. The broccoli was crunchy as all get out, the carrots were a bit hard and half the rice was dried out. After eating one piece of the eel, I quickly realized that the eel was slimy. I think that the eel was haphazardly covered with a mock eel sauce to cover that factor.

I checked out the rest of the eel. I figured maybe it was me, being paranoid. Nope. I wasn't being paranoid at all. The rest of the eel was slimy. I threw the food away because I knew it was bad. Since I knew I was going to get sick, I grabbed a bottle of ice cold water, got some plastic bags together and put myself down on the couch. All that was left to do was wait for impending doom.

Sure enough, 2 hours later my stomach started really talking to me. It was being especially harsh on me since I feed it bad fish. The whole time that I was throwing up, I was damning myself for being so stupid. I should of checked the food while I was there and got the freshness date from one of the cooks. I was just being lazy. It didn't help the fact that it seemed like none of the employees knew what they were doing. But, hunger gets what hunger wants.

I do not suggest Mitaki at all. Its not real Japanese food and the prices are something to be desired as well; but you get what you paid for, I guess. From now on, I will only order eel from places that really specialize in those types of fish. I do not want another episode like that one. I'm pretty sure no one else would want one either. Thats why I'm the food soldier. I get sick so others don't have too.

AVOID – Worst service, extreemly long wait, rude management. I ordered food to be dleivered and when it showed up it had been dropped and wasn't right . When i called to have them fix the order they were very rude, and then charged me extra for fixing it.
