Owner Susan Sarich, a Chicago native with a knack for nostalgia, conjures up all the flavors and aromas of grandma's kitchen in this Westside sugar haven. With a pressed tin ceiling and custom cake pan lights over head, the comfy-chic interior is sprinkled with 1950's birthday photos and framed recipes by Susan's own grandmother. The vintage cookie jars are empty, but the pastry case is brimming with decadent dessert like iced molasses snap cookies, strawberry-chiffon layer cake and creamy banana pudding.

great ambiace and product packaging. The cupcakes aren't as heavy as sprinkles. I wasn't too big a fan when I tried the red velvet, but all in all, its ok. Nothing can beat sprinkles, but susie cakes does have its unique appeal.

I used to work up the street from Susie Cakes, and I quickly became almost a daily regular to the store. $3 never seemed like much...but when you're buying EVERY DAY, it gets as bad as a Starbuck habit! I think the taste of these cupcakes are phenomenal. I highly recommend the red velvet (the best they have), and their monthly flavors are always good too (favorites are the pumpkin and pineapple upside-down cakes). $3 is a little much to ask for, as these cupcakes are not as large as what you'd get at either Sprinkles or Yummy Cupcakes...but they are BETTER TASTING by far. Moving away from Los Angeles in about a month...Susie Cakes is one of the things I will miss most.

Everything I have gotten from SusieCakes has been excellent. These are my favorite cupcakes of any of the Los Angeles bakeries. Always moist, and with the frosting in the middle which extends the deliciousness throughout the entire cupcake. Plus, it's always an enjoyable experience shopping here. No long lines. Always a friendly face on the other side of the counter.
