great persian food, eager service, amazing beef koobideh, very nice waiter, delicious deserts, really slow customer service, worst decor
I live in Carlsbad, California near San
Diego. I regularly drive my friends, family and business associates round trip to Baran in Los Angeles because "they do Persian right". The beef koobideh is my favorite with plenty of fresh onions served on the side. The wait staff is consistently atttentive an keeps me up to speed on menu changes. The portions served make every offering a price/value bargin in my opinion.
The best part of the experience is the ever viligent and friendly owner who always comes to greet me and my fellow diners like we are his family. On my last visit I took my 83 year old mother who didn't even know what Persian food was. Again, the staff and in particular, the owner, met her like a long lost relative.
Go for the consistently excellent food and stay for the warm and inviting staff.
Best Persian Food! And great atmosphere.
I am very picky about Persian food. But I looove this restaurant. The decor, atmosphere is beautiful. The service is amazing. The food is delicious and they give you VERY big portions. The best items on the menu are: beef kabobs, salmon with polo sabzi, ghorme sabzi, gheymeh with eggplants, lamb shank, and mast khiar. The tadigh is also great. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. I am shocked by the one star review... But I guess some people are haters.

Great Food and Service!!!.
i was there on Saturday and everything was great! we ordered some chicken kabob, some beef kabob as a family style dish. DELICIOUS!!!
our waiter was very nice and he was always there if we needed something!
the only thing was, some more items on the dessert menu wouldn't hurt:)
We'll be back soon!
The worst persian food ever. The waiter was horrible; he had an attitude and asked me if I had ate food at any of the surrounding restaurants. I said yes I had ate at flame, and he said there food is sh*t right. I was mesmerized, by the rude comment. Anyways, the koobideh was good, but it was not great. For the prices the that this place charges the food should be great. Other then that, we had to flag down our waiter to get refills on our soda, overall I would not come back to this place ever again
Very good everything, but strangely empty. We just ate here for the first time and everything was great except that we were almost alone. It was very strange. The food was excellent and the staff was very nice. I thought the decor was pretty interesting and not "cheesy modern" like the previous reviewer. The decor might not be typical of this type of restaurant but it was nice. There was live music on Friday night starting at about 8pm I think - an interesting touch. Parking is easy as long as your car isn't too wide (park behind restaurant but VERY narrow ally)! Overall, it was great but it would have been a lot better if there were more people in the restaurant. If you want good Middle Eastern food with fast service and absolutely no trouble getting a table, try this.
Amazing beef koobideh. This is a nice restaurant with the friendly waiters working hard to please you. We ate on a Saturday night and a musician was playing live. But most importantly, the beef koobideh was amazing. The shiraz salad was delicious. I also had the pomegranate/walnut chicken with lubia polo, which was just perfect together after a dash of hot sauce. To me personally, the decor is modern but cheesy. The persian calligraphy is stunning.
high quality dinning with great atmosphere and glam. For once the the decor matches the taste. Not only is this place stylish by so are the colorful traditional plates. Portions are huge and the menu is pages long with all the best middle eastern plates. And when you finish dinner you musssssst try somethign from the desert menu they have a huge desert menu. the food wass delicious and the service was great. My friends are alos fans of the exotice martinis that just got added thier happy hour menu. go with friends for a fun night out in LA
Baran's all that in a bag of chips. Baran's amazing. The food is great the service tops the food and on top of that the deserts are delicious and yet cheap. so for everyone who hasnt been to baran yet i strongly recommend it, its a must!!!
Wow Raffis finally has some competition. well I decided to go to this restaurant on valentines day, yet didnt think to make a reservation (because usually you dont have to with persian restaurants) but they were all booked up so I had to settle for a week later. Me and my boyfriend went there and were blown away. The decor and ambiance is nothing I have ever seen in any persian restarant. The service was uncanny, every 15 minutes they made sure we had everything we needed (let me just put in that the restaurant was pretty corwded), I got the boneless chicken and my bf got the beef koobideh, food was great. Everything tasted excellent, the only thing that i wasnt feeling was the house doogh, it had a little too much nanah, other then that WOW!! So i reached the conlcusion that Raffis in glendale finally has some competition........
