fav restaraunt!. I don't know why everyone harps on this restaurant not being traditional brazilian. Who cares!!! it's deliscious! I gave it only 4 stars because it takes so long to deliver... but when it does it is always brought to you by a really HOT brazilian guy!
Bad.
The food is NOT traditional brazilian food! False advertisement! The food is really greasy! Service is really slow! I tried several things on the menu and I was disappointed with all of them, especially the cheese bread "pao de queijo" it was all oil, disgusting!
Do not waste your money at this restaurant, it is not brazilian food for sure!
One of my favorite places to eat. All of the food here is absolutely phenomenal. Whether it's the salads, the chicken dishes, the pizza, the sandwiches or the pasta, it's all great. If you have room for dessert (good luck!) then you should definitely partake of it. Even their brewed coffee is excellent, and the focaccia bread they serve when you sit down is addictive!
BEST PIZZA IN L.A. & A LATE NIGHT MAINSTAY!!!. Bossa Nova is a Godsend to those of us who don't ALWAYS insist on having dinner at a set hour, or who'd like a late-night meal after the club or a long day in the studio that is DECIDEDLY on the gourmet and down-home end as opposed to the greasy and drive-thru. Everything on the menu is VERY tasty, but Bossa Nova's PIZZA is DELICIOUS! There are places we all know spread out across L.A. at vast distances and that observe regular hours, but Bossa Nova is open until 2:00am regularly, and 4:00am some days, and there are multiple convenient, centrally located locations! As a night owl who prefers gourmet to dennys and diners (which have their place too) Boss Nova is THE BOMB!!!
Very Tasty Food!!.
I have gone to this restaurant many times - over a dozen - for lunch and for dinner. You will NOT be dissapointed with the food as it is seasoned and prepared wonderfully.
The steak and fish are delicious - and the desserts are fantastic. Try the milk Flan for dessert or the chicken Couchinha as an appetizer. The price is right and the food is awesome.
I can't wait to got back -
Less hassle at this location. When I first went to Bossa Nova I tried the Sunset location, which had great food alongside a 40 minute wait and a $6 Valet, and I wasn't too enthused about coming back frequently. However, when I discovered the Pico location, this place has become a staple for me and the rest of my college friends because of the indulgent food at a decent price and its HUGE portions (lots of leftovers). Plus, since it has a brazillian flare, it attracts a lot of my out of towner friends who want to try something "ethnic". The gnocchi is heavenly in any pasta dish, and the salmon pizza is a treat for those who love seafood. As for atmosphere, I've been on a few first dates here, which worked well because of it's casual scene but it's just as good for larger parties.
pretty good steaks. i was surprised at how good their steaks were. i asked for lots of bread before the meal b/c the bread was so good too. i think this place is under-rated cuz the food was surprisingly good- my friend's caesar salad was excellent and i don't even like caesar salad.
Chicken Crochette Appetizer is a MUST. There are a few of these in LA but I have only been to this one. The one appetizer I now have to order every time I go there is their Chicken Crochette which is chicken wrapped in bacon fried and served in this absolutely amazing Gorgonzola cream sauce, which I wish I could bottle up and just have on hand at home all the time! Everything is made fresh and their salads are very large, and they even deliver if you don't want to eat in. Not the nicest of decor, but a completely affordable place to go out for some Brazilian food and their menu is so large that it could please anyone who went there.
Brasilian cuisine at its finest.
My wife and I went around 7pm on a Sunday night. We were seated immediately. The service was fantastic. Our server Vivian was helpful, making tasty recommendations and stopping by every few minutes to check on drink refills and to see if we needed anything.
The food was INCREDIBLE. We had a few appetizers and a salad, and split everything, just to get a taste of what they had to offer. We had the Mushroom Appetizer, which is sauteed mushrooms and little pieces of toast. We had Fresh Mozarella Brushetta, which is a basil-tomato salad on top of a piece of mozarella on top of a piece of toast. We also had the kibe (kive? kife?) some sort of wheat and ground meat fried item. And last but not least, we had the goat cheese seafood salad.
Every item was incredibly tasty. The brushetta was tasty, without being overbearing as some italian restaurants make it. The mushrooms were spiced well, and the toast they came with just melted in our mouths. The kibe(kife? kive) was a little bland, but still tasty. Reminded me of indian samosas but without the "hot" spice. The salad was an incredible mix: shiitake mushrooms, mini-scallops, goat cheese, nuts, spinach, onions, and 5 shrimps a little larger than a silver dollar each. It came with a citrus vinagrette.
On top of the wonderful flavors, the portions were HUGE!! Oh my goodness, between two of us, we managed to finish about two thirds of each dish (and that was with me making use of my hollow leg)... we left STUFFED! We drank ice tea with our meal, our total bill was just under $40. What we ordered could've easily served 3 or even 4 people with moderate appetites.
Amazing service, great food, valet parking's a little slow but after the great experience, who cares?
food was definitely good, but service was lacking. finally tried bossa nova tonight and beat the rush, too. when we walked in a little after 7, the hostess and host (owner maybe?) barely greeted us and sat us at a table right by the door, next to the hostess podium station. wasn't immediately blown away, but the place was packed and the food smelled good. took awhile to get our drink order and even longer to get a bread basket, but we ordered the sangria and calpirinha, both soups (black bean was GOOD and the vegetable puree soooo creamy and hearty at the same time), the chicken stroganoff, and the grilled lamb skewers. all the food was great, especially the plantains. no complaints about the food at all. just next time we'll have it delivered! there was a party of 18 and we actually overheard the host tell them that they would either have to sit on the patio in the rain (apparently it's not covered) or be spread out all over the inside of the restaurant, which isn't very big to begin with. i was appalled! the host actually said "there's nothing we can really do for you." so rude and snooty! then why take the reservation in the first place?! ridiculous. also, for how crowded they were, they sure took their time boxing our leftovers and bringing the bill. all in all, good food, but never going there to eat in again. versailles has better service even if they're always crowded and busy... the food's about the same anyway.
