view & uploadhappy nails, very attentive service, good location, cold shoulder, clean place, bad experience, happy spa
Great aesthetician! (Michelle). I get routine brow/bikini waxes here. For this neighborhood , the price is right, and you never need an appointment-although you may make one. The pedicures are okay, I get one occasionally, but the waxing is great! You do have to park in a pay lot, but the first hour's free.
Solid for waxing. I got my eyebrows waxed there and I was very satisfied. Honey wax, nicely shaped, short wait time. I'll be going again.
Lindsey is the BEST. I have been here many times and I do have to agree that the place is pretty mediocre except for one AMAZING nail technician named Lindsey. I see her every month for my pedicure and she is the best there. The only one I will see. If she isn't there I walk away. I get compliments on my pedi 4 weeks after I've seen her. The location is perfect and the place itself is clean, just go to Lindsey and you're set! Also the waxing lady there is good to. All my friends go to her now.
Don't even bother!. Ahh! Stay away! I could have done a better job myself! I went in for an impulse mani/pedi. Pedi was all right - but the water was barely even tepid - almost cool. Woman tried to upsell an extra long foot massage. But the mani was the worst, most rushed, MESSY manicure I have ever had. My nails were left all different legnths, I'd asked for rounded tips (I don't even know what shape to call them now) a couple were left rough on the edges, and the polish on one of them ran down a little bit forming a lump at the base of my finger. This woman also tried to upsell an extra long massage; I declined. When she was done she all but pushed me out of the chair (she wasn't mean, but she sure didn't want me hanging me around), pointing to the waiting area for me to go. No heaters/fans/driers were offered. I mean, what a waste of time, money and an attempt to treat yourself - and now i have a sucky manicure! I don't get manicures often, but there are so many places out there, I regret bothering with this one. Hopefully you won't either - you are not getting what you're paying for.
Not really worth the money.
I agree with all the negative reviews written so far. I have been there twice and each time there was so much pressure to upgrade the service and if I didn't they would give me a cold shoulder and hurry up to get me out of there. They were also a little sloppy in terms of the pedicure itself. The place was dirty and smelt of food. The only plus about this place is that the place is bright and well light compared to the other dingy mani/pedi places. Their pedi's don't last as long as the other places do-- My pedi's generally last 6 weeks but here in about three weeks I need another one.
Go find another salon -- you will probably get a better experience for your money.
Hack Job. I went here and ended wasting my time and money. The tech's couldn't care less about what they are doing except to get your mani & pedi done faster so they can move on to the next customer. There was very little communication, the salon was not clean, and felt more like an assembly line. I am sad I went there.I had to redo my nails at home.
Bright, fun and inexpensive between shopping pamper spot!. Anyone who has come across the dozens of small nail shops we have in LA knows how dark and depressing they can be. I've been going to Happy Nails since it opened and love it. The service has always been friendly and very attentive. The manager remembers my name, my favorite services and is always a pleasure when I'm at the salon. The shop itself is bright and open with big picture windows so you can people watch as you relax during your mani/pedi treatment. If you need acrylics done, you must ask for Hillary -- she's the best in the city and Niki is amazing with pedicures that last and last. When you're done you can shop at Target or go downstairs and have a bite to eat.
You get what you pay for.
When this place first opened in the new Gateway plaza with Target and Best Buy on SMB and La Brea, I thought I'd try it out while grabbing cd's and all that stuff you tend to buy at Target! On the first few occasions my only complaint would be the 'hard sell' they lay on you to drive up the price. (Because, believe me, they have the best price in town for a spa mani/pedi) However, despite having individually wrapped implements at every appointment I find the rest of this place dirty and I always can smell food. Not surprising since I always see the techs eating out in the open. They must not have a break room-of course, there ARE tables DOWNSTAIRS where all the restaurants are! When I come in and DON'T request the most expensive service I get the cold shoulder and they rush me through. At my last manicure I was drying them and another tech plunked herself down across from me and grunted: "You have to move! Go over there!" MY tech was next to her and despite knowing she just finished my nails and they were soaking wet, just smiled at the other woman as she watched me struggle to pick up my keys and wallet.
Oh and don't DARE bring your own instruments for cuticles. They insisted they weren't sharp enough and I had just BOUGHT THEM NEXT DOOR AT ULTA!
My mani lasted ONE day too. They thin the polishes out to make them last...in the BOTTLES only!
WORST MANICURE EVER!.
I have never written a review but i had such a bad experience last weekend that i felt i needed to! my manicurist was SOOO rough with me - he used his long dirty nails to push back my cuticle skin and threw my hands around violently. instead of using a cotton ball to remove my old polish he just dumped nail polish remover all over my hand! i should have left... My sister was beside me and she also had a terrible experience. Days later, her fingers are hurting!
DO NOT GO THERE! go to lani's on beverly or pay a bit more for a relaxing experience.
Bad Customer Service, Rushed Services, Sloppy & Painful Manicure. For the first time I feel the need to write a review. If you can avoid this place...do!!! All I wanted was a manicure. The staff was very unwelcoming, while being short & snappy with me. The woman who did my nails proceeded to rush my services, painfully smashing my cuticles down, wripping my skin off with the cuticle cutter, and jabbing the skin under one of my nails so hard I yelled and pulled my hand away. Two days later I am still in pain. The techinician also refused to do a third coat on my nails. She skimped on the polish, and barely put any top coat. There were no gloves being worn by anyone!! After my manicure, my technician joined another 7 technicians in eating homemade food with bare hands...THE SAME HANDS SHE JUST WORKED ON ME WITH!! They were eating while cutting down foam buffers with large ktichen knives. Also, there is hardly any polish selection. I only gave this place a 1 because the location is convenient if you are in the neighborhood, but I would say it isn't worth the tiny bit of convenience for an infected finger.
