The BEST pilates studio in WLA!. Heather and Natalie are warm and wonderful - and AMAZING at getting results from their clients. I tried four pilates studios before I found Heather. If you want no hype but plenty of personalized instructions and down-to-earth, fun vibe, their approach is for you. Thanks to Heather, I only gained 25 lbs (9 of which was the baby) during pregnancy and was basically back to my pre-pregnancy weight in two months (OK, maybe I could stand to lose another 3-5 lbs...). When people ask me about it, I always say "it's Pilates!" I almost hesitate to write this review bc the studio is just a great well-kept secret...
Fantastic Pilates Studio. I went in to Body Wellness for the first time recently, and now I'm hooked! Natalie (owner / instructor) really is as fabulous as the other reviewers say. She motivated me through a super demanding workout, but made sure I was still having fun. The studio itself has a fantastic vibe, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone on the Westside looking for a great, mellow, friendly Pilates studio. Can't wait to go back!
Excellent 1st Time Experience. Reformer pilates was a new thing for me. I wasn't sure if I'd be comfortable on the equipment and I was a little self concience about others in the class knowing much than I do. The first time I took a class, I was so impressed with how easy the instructor made it for me! I didn't feel like I was behind or any less trained on the equipment than anyone else in the class. She took a nerve racking experience and made it super comfortable and smooth for me. I've been going for 4 weeks, and I already feel results! I think creating a good comfort level for the client is so important, and everyone at Body Wellness is sooo good at setting the mood for that kind of enviornment. I'm hooked!!! I have my niece coming with me now, too, and she loves it, as well. This place is excellent!!!
Love My Pilates!. I love going to my Pilates class! Natalie, the instructor/owner, is the best. I love that the classes are small so that you receive a lot of attention - there is no hiding out in this class! Natalie really makes the class fun with her crazy personality. She really gets to know everyone in the class and will call you out if she sees you slacking! She is very in tune with the class and helps you out if you are having a difficult time or working with an injury. Natalie is a great motivator and makes you want to get through class even though sometimes you feel like you can't. The class is full of real size women and yes, there are some men too. There is no need for intimidation here; we are all here to better our bodies! From my very first class I noticed a difference in my body. There was a whole new awareness of how my body was aligned. As I continue, I notice myself sitting and standing straighter. When I first started, I was coming once a week and everyone always asked, "Do you really see any results?" I did notice results, small results, and good results. My body began tightening up - less giggle in the arms, legs, and buttocks! Who doesn't love that? Now I am going twice a week and can see that my arms and legs are starting to tone up and I can see the muscles! I couldn't imagine my week without going to my Pilates class. I recommend it to everyone. If you are looking for a release from the everyday tensions of life, give one hour of your time to Natalie and you'll come out feeling great! Maybe a little sore, especially on day two, but in a good way! Thanks Nat! I LOVE THE BURN!!!!
Pilates Reformer at its best!.
I can actually move my lower abdomen and hold it in while I breath! I have never consistently been able to do that; and, my stomach has always protruded. For the past month, I've been going to Body Wellness, The Pilates Place, taking Pilates Reformer classes under the instruction of owner, Natalie. She is absolutely wonderful--- well trained and disciplined in Joseph Pilates' techniques. As an instructor, she's patient, funny and strict, all at once. She challenges and encourages you through the completion of each set of exercises, wisely pushing each person in the sculpting of their perfect body.
In addition to a stronger core, my breathing has improved tremendously. Activity on the reformer requires a breathing pattern that circulates Oxygen throughout my system. As a result, I feel calmer, healthier and empowered! Core strength is important for many reasons and thanks to Natalie, I?m starting to reap the benefits. And, this is just the beginning! As Natalie can be heard saying during class, ?love the burn!? Well, I love the burn!!!
Natalie's Body Wellness is centrally located with decent parking or on a main bus line. The classes are small and she also offers privates. Body Wellness' fees are manageable particularly when compared to the market rate. Body Welness, The Pilates Place, offers the full package and I highly recommend them!
Great CORE work out! No more hunchback of Santa Monica. So this class has been effectively improving my posture and is by far the best exercise I've ever taken for my abs. I ve had results within the first 3wks! Granted Im thin but my belly and posture has always been a struggle. Natalie is a wonderful expert in keeping yourself balanced while you work out. I highly recommend it and the class schedules are compatible with my hectic schedule.
Why shouldn't a great workout be fun?.
People have been telling me to take Pilates for about 10 years but I was always intimitated by the idea of the machines, and the cost of taking private or semi-private lessons. Plus I'm really out of shape from taking care of everybody else and then crashing out on the couch. When I finally decided it was time to take care of me, Body Wellness made it really easy.
I took one private lesson and got acquainted with the Reformer machine. Then I started group classes, so I can keep it up and it's really affordable. The studio is right at 19th and Wilshire and it's brand new so everything is clean and bright.
I LOVE the reformer classes. There's great music and a lot of positive encouragement. We work hard, though! I'm strengthening my core and feeling the "good hurt" after every class and I feel like my whole body, spirit and self-image are strengthening. Wish I had started a long time ago but I'm definitely going to keep going. I'm over 40 and don't like exercising unless it's fun, and the classes are definitely a tough workout but a lot of fun with students of all ages. And you definitely see and feel the results. It's the best thing I ever did for myself.
Love the Burn!. I have just recently started taking pilates classes with Natalie and let me tell you, she rocks! A girlfriend of mine has been going for quite some time and finally convinced me to go with. I wish I had started sooner! I was so nervous about being so out of shape, but Natalie is wonderful and such an expert. She knew just how to make me feel comfortable and ran the class in a way that was ok for me and all of the other students. It's like she already knew what my body could and couldn't handle. Not to say that the classes haven't been getting more challenging, but she knows all of her students and handles the class according to their skill level. On top of all that, it's fun! She plays great music, everyone is super friendly and we all just have a great time. LOVE THE BURN!!!!

Great pilates with amazing instructor. I had only heard about pilates before joining this class. It has been a great experience, Natalie is so much fun and makes sure you are on track of the training. The best part is that classes are small! The first warm ups are the best for those of you who sit at a desk all day - it releases the lower back and it feels so good. Classes are held throughout the day so it can fit into your schedule any time. I recommend this pilates to everyone.
