best sushi in LA, hands down. I've had my fair share of sushi in LA, and I must say 'blue fish' is the best. the service, the sushi chefs, the quality of the food, and the prices are all exemplary. the location could not be better, as it's set in quiet Montrose. You can enjoy your meal and take a long stroll alone Honolulu blvd. and check out the shops and other restaurants.

Very good sushi but service leaves something to be desired. I was genuinely torn writing this review. While my wife and I enjoy the sushi at Blue Fish, it's the service that is keeping us from going back on a regular basis.

First the good: Some of our favorites are the Philadelphia, the Crunch, the Avocado, and the Rainbow rolls. All are very fresh and have never disappointed. And nor have the vegetable tempura or the miso soup disappointed either.

The bad is the service. We have been there three times and it seems they only have a wait staff of two. Each time they have brought us our appetizers after they have served us the sushi. Once they even forgot to give our friend her miso soup and still charged her for it. The last time we were there, we finished our meal, requested the check, and then had to wait over twenty minutes to finally get it.

In their defense, yes - they do get very busy at times (deservedly so as the sushi is very good). But the management really needs to hire at least one more waitress/waiter.

If citysearch had a two scale rating system, I would have given Blue Fish four stars for the food, but two for the service - therefore the three star review.

BEST SUSHI EVER. definitely the best place to have sushi in this area. they are very consistent with the freshness and flavor of their product. meal is always very satisfying. they have new rolls every month or so, but will make your request if you want something that is not in their menu anymore. my bf raves about their salmon sashimi. it is indeed the best!

Very good sushi/sashimi in an area that needs it. I've eaten here twice and been pleased both times. The albacore sashimi is prepared with onions and is just delicious. Tried the white (lobster) roll and the Marilyn Mon-roll (spicy/hot scallop, shrimp,seafood) and both are very well done. My friends had baked salmon roll, teriaki salmon, halibut sashimi and spanish mackeral sushi of which they approved. Appetizers like green mussels are good. Miso soup and green salad get my approval and I'm picky. Once you're in, service is good. Might be a bit of a wait. We will revisit this place. Highlyh recommended, but stay away on Saturday/Sunday night because we want a table.
