great waiters service, good food, great steak, wonderful restaurant, very bad service, very impressive side dishes, knowledgeable waiters
SAVE YOUR MONEY!. I have had better steak else where and this is suppose to be a STEAK HOUSE? Forget the intrusive busboy and the waiter that announces, "what, no bottled water at this table"? The steak was nothing to write home about and the price's are way out of line for the forgettable food. I have an expense account and I still would never go back! Does that tell you something?
I was not Impressed at all!.
I was not impressed with Ruth Chris steak house. The waitress forgot to bring us our second glass of wine with our main entrees, (we each got the wine pairing). So after we ran her down and asked her to bring the second glass of wine, we were practically through with our entrees. Each part of the meal is served in separate dishes, which clutters the table and makes for poor presentation. The mushroom side was not tasty at all and the baked corn dish was over-cooked and dry. I had blue cheese dressing on the side for my salad. It was so thick that it didn't mix in the salad at all. In fact it look like clumps of feta. I should of complained. The steaks and fish we all had were tasty and good. We ate for dineLA. I don't think I would go back and pay $$$$ for anything here. It just isn't worth it.
The website says business casual, but I saw people in shorts and t-shirts with baseball caps.
Tip for eating steak at RC..
I see a lot of mixed reviews on this site, and I'll give you my own personal review since I've been here 8 times this year. I learned from the past.
I noticed when I order a filet, and ask for medium, it comes a lil dry on the edges. So I always ask for medium rare on filets and medium for petite filets to get a pink center. (Big deal for others since they need to get it right the first try right? see my 3rd comment)
For all the well done lovers, please save your money and go somewhere else with your A1. No offense but you can't taste a true steak if it's well done.
One more thing, this is a fancy restaurant, yet you complain about your food not being cooked the way you want it. You're spending lots of $$$ to deserve good steak right? If it's not cooked the right way, SEND IT BACK!!! You might even get a complimentary entree or dessert.
The place looks neat and fancy compared to the one in Beverly Hills.
I enjoy my steaks at ruth's chris. I've been to other steak houses in LA and will try NY soon. But RC has the best steak compared to others in LA.
If you know any better steakhouses, I'm open to suggestions.
Inconsistent Quality. I've been to this particular Ruth's Chris thrice. The first, the food was too salty and the service was decent. The second was during Restaurant week, the food was delicious and well worth the price. The service was excellent and the server was just as delicious as the food (asian with a British accent. Yum!). The third was the day after Thanksgiving. The food was pretty bad, it was even said that Black Angus had better steaks! The service was mediocre at best. I'm just glad I got free gift cards from my rewards program this last time! Definitely try the Irvine Ruth's Chris. Their quality is consistent and it is what my friends and I use as the bar for all steakhouses. On a good day, the lobster bisque is divine, filet mignon is tender and juicy, bread is delicious when hot and the bread pudding and creme brulee are one of the best.
NOT GOOD FOOD, period!.
Title says it all.
Don't waste your time or money.
P.S.
How stupid do these people think we are that we are going to believe a 5 star rating? If you want the TRUTH, read the lower, REAL costumers' comments who actually VISITED this awful place and experienced it first hand. Let me guess? The following post will either be a mediocre to "WONDERFUL" five star review. Oh please, give US a break. I wonder who is writing them...MONITORS!!! Who beneficiates if not their place of business? Notice the date they catch it too and their sorry response.
Wonderful food and good service. Four of us went on a Saturday evening (7:30PM) for our first visit. We gladly waited a bit (ten minutes) for our very nice quiet table. The service was very attentive by all the service staff, especially our gracious waiter, JP. All our food was exceptionally good and very fresh: Salads, Entrees, Side Orders and Desserts, plus very good coffee. A very extensive wine list with half bottles enabled us a creative selection. We were not rushed and even though the restaurant was very busy and full. Our valet service was also very prompt and polite. If we had known about the negative reviews we would have questioned our selection to celebrate our friend's anniversary. Therefore we write our review which is our first time doing this. We know that reviews can be helpful. Ours was a wonderful experience. Oh! Be prepared to pay lots of $$$s, an average $80 to $110 with tip per person. And make reservations, especially for weekend evenings. For us this is a special occasion restaurant which we hope will remain consistent.
This place is a joke.
Class in not defined by dollar amounts or clothing, it is the abiliy to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome. This place has absolutely no class.
The food itself is mediocre, not fresh at all...I had a chewy steak, no cooked properly.
The snobby staff was ridiculously absurd. Do they think they own the place? There's a red headed woman that well, you'll see if you ever have the misfortune of going there. lol
If you must have their food, just go to the other location at Beverly Hills. It will be worth the drive, trust me. At least there they have manners.
Worst Experience Ever. I've eaten at some of the best restaurants in L.A. and have never encounter such discrimination as I did at Chris Ruth's Steak House. After being seated, I was escored OUT of the daining area and into the bar secition, mind you, I had recervations...their reason? I was wearing a hat. They have a "flexible" dress code with was obvious by the other costumers' attires who were wearing flip flips and shorts! Yet I was the only one that was ask to leave the dinning area. Oh, and did I mentioned it was my friend's birthday? They couldn't care less. If they want to enforce a dress code, I am all for it but discriminate equally, not selectively. And here's a tip for them, you may want to spray the restaurant and get rid of all the disgusting fly. I would never eat there again and hope none ever goes through what I went through.
Average at best. This is easily one of the worse steak houses I've been to in my life. The best thing about it is the location and the decor. Apart from that the food was average, over priced, and one dish in particular, the sweet potato pie, was down right toxic. It tasted awful, looked like it had been burned, had me preying to the porcelain god before I was out of the restaurant, and when my father confronted the server he assured us the dish was suppose to taste like that that and didn't do anything to remedy the situation. The staff is snobby, the food will make you sick, but it has a great location. I recommend the bottled water.
Good but not great. I finally tried this place and the service was great. The waiters are so friendly and knowledgeable. The prime rib that I ordered had some fat in it but it was ok, not great. I expected more from this place. I did notice that they dont implement a dress code because i saw people in sandals and running shoes.
