Great Italian place for a romantic date
by rudi300 at Citysearch
My girlfriend loves to eat out and I've always had trouble finding a good place to take her. I just discovered how great citysearch really is. First restaurant I tried with citysearch gave me a really great anniversary outcome. It's Christmas now and I took her to this restaurant for "our" time since on Christmas it's gonna be friends and family time. She loves Italian food and we both liked this restaurant alot. We had a very romantic evening by ourselves and we enjoyed it very much.
- Pros: Friendly service
- Cons: Hard to find parking, especially on the weekend.
Great value for your dollar! Excellent service!

I visited Pomodoro on a Friday night with a group of 4 people.
I find the atmosphere to be unique and pleasant, decor is modern, attractive and music perfect for the atmosphere , not too loud or too soft. They didn't play any of that "techno" stuff or "house" music or the Top 20 or current pop hits that you can hear in just about any other restaurant in Burbank. It was a pretty cool European mix with jazz thrown in . The other 3 ladies in my party as well as myself found the food to be very tasty, well prepared and with attractive presentations. We also all agreed that the menu was not high-priced at all, in fact it's pretty inexpensive for the quality of food being served. We found the most expensive thing in the menu as the bistecca, which is a angus ribeye steak that my friend ordered. I had a taste and it was grilled to perfection at med-rare, topped with olive oil, arrugula and pecorino romano cheese and served with delicious white tuscan beans. The price on this item was only $14.75! Most of the other dishes ranged in price from $8.00 - $12.00. I had the Mafaldine Pasta, which is a wavy noodle that sort of resembles little sheets of lasagna. This dish had shrimp, asparagus, and a tomato cream sauce that had just enough "zing" to it, but wasn't too spicy. portion was more than I could eat after sharing a well prepared and attractive looking Caprese Salad of roma tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese, olive oil, basil, sun-dried tomatoes, black olives, simply delicious! We shared the Ravioli Di Zucca appetizer (yummy butternut squash with brown butter and sage)I asked the server to box my pasta up for later. Our server, Ryan was accomodating, polite and friendly with a good sense of humor. He was also the bartender. They have a decent selection of Italian as well as California wines at their full bar. The manager was also very attentive and available to tables and cared for the guests. Good for a date or for a dinner out with friends or family.
Nothing exceptional

The seating is rather crammed together and there weren't enough servers for a Friday night when we visited. They don't offer fresh ground pepper or grated parmesan like most Italian restaurants with prices similar to theirs, and we weren't even offered a jar of parmesan for our pasta. The food is mediocre and portions are smaller than expected for what they charge.
The decor is pleasant and unique, but doesn't make up for the lackluster service and food.
