In Short – Fifty-pound burlap bags of coffee from all over the world are stacked around this sparse cafe catering to Westwood's college connoisseurs. The full spectrum of roasts includes still-green coffee for do-it-yourselfers. Beans are hand roasted in small batches and brewed in fanatically pure water. Highlights of the beverage menu are mochas and Caffe Vienna, with sugared, steamed cream and a dusting of cinnamon. Pastries, muffins, bagels and other baked goods are available.

Coffe lovers' coffee

I like my coffee black and unadulterated--and I love City Bean's brews. They may not make the best frufru coffee drinks, but the coffee itself is superb. Starbucks thinks that the solution to insipid coffee is to overroast it and then to load it up with sugar, dairy, and what not so that you don't notice. City Bean is the perfect antedote for that thinking. Unfortunately, it's located in Westwood.
