Fresh Sushi! Awesome and Creative Rolls
by CaliMermaid
I always order off the Daily Specials Menu. They have alot of fresh rolls beyond the typical staples like California, Philadelphia, Spicy Tuna, etc. I love eating here. Great and entertaining service from both the chefs and servers. A definite recommend!
- Pros: Fresh Sushi & Original and Creative Rolls
- Cons: I wish there was a location in Orange County
An oyster pearl in the rough...

I'm almost glad this restaurant is hidden away from the rest of the Westwood strip. Neighboring the local Denny's doesn't necessariliy add to the appeal, but the food and service at this restaurant are both top notch. I've yet to experience a bad meal and have always left with memories to cherish. Their Toro and Kanpachi are beyond comparison, and for all you shellfish lovers, the oysters are one of a kind.
I actually prefer the intimate atmosphere the restaurant has to offer, rather than overcrowded sushi bars that make up in decor what they lack in flavor. Great for a date or just enjoying a good meal with friends, they cater to all your needs, including a big screen for all you sports fanatics.
With a wide selection of import beers and sake, Isshin makes it difficult to leave unhappy. For sushi connoisseurs, be sure to sit at the bar. Even the Itamae (sushi chefs) have stories to tell... one is blowfish certified and the other used to be a body builder! Get to know them and feast on delicacies not on the menu =)
- Pros: Fresh fish daily, intimate atmosphere, great service
- Cons: Parking is limited, valet and spend your time looking at the menu instead of street signs
No FRESH Fish!
by campatt
I reviewed this place on 2 separate sites, and the reviews were good but from what I saw at the restaurant they must be talking about a different place. There's no way anyone would give this place a good review. There were barely any people in the restaurant during prime dinner hours, and most importantly the fish looked like it had been sitting there for a few days (probably because no one goes to eat there and they didn't have to order more fresh fish). The environment is cheap and dingy. The only good was the service. They were very nice but probably b/c only 4 other people were there.
- Pros: Nice people
- Cons: No fresh fish
