great place, quite fresh tall, awful service, best tuna, big sushi fan, not best sushi, good sushi fix
the key word is FINE. This is fine sushi - not great, not horrible. TAll of the fish is quite fresh; for example, the tuna is usually the best, the albacore a hit or miss. There's no fancy presentation and typically a little heavy on the rice. But for $20, you get a good sushi fix.
Low expectations, TOTALLY exceeded. After reading the other reviews on Citysearch, we went in expecting paper-thin, frightening sushi and awful service. Watered-down soy sauce and bland wasabi? The place was effing great! We sat at the sushi bar and had the sushi chef on us immediately to ask what we wanted. Nice, thick, fresh pieces of tuna and salmon came almost immediately. I'm not joking... it was the fastest service I've ever had in any sushi restaraunt. The pieces did have a lot of rice, but not entirely out of proportion with the thick pieces of fish. I'm a big sushi fan (I've been to most of the best places in NY including Yama, Nobu, Blue Ribbon, Tomo, etc). It wasn't the best sushi I've ever had, but for an all-you-can-eat place, it was great. I'm definitely more likely to go back there than to Crazy Fish, which I found crowded but incredibly mediocre.
