Great Shabu Shabu in the heart of Glendale
by steveola at Citysearch
Great Shabu Shabu (which translated means 'swish swish') restaurant. Good service, pleasant atmosphere and good quality food. Only downside is that it is located in a small strip mall that is usually teaming with local highschoolers - but that's probably just my personal annoyance. I brave it for the food regularly.
- Pros: food and service
- Cons: location
Great Shabu Shabu, Great Staff, and very authentic
by weakticket at Citysearch
You wouldn't think that this Shabu place would be very authentic because of it's location in Glendale but I will have to tell you, Ben the owner came over to where we were sitting and personally thanked us for coming. He is a very nice guy, and treated us very well. They have great portions and the large is well worth the $20 dollars, the ponzu sauce is excellent. I highly recommend this spot!
Best Shabu Shabu I've ever had. Now it's my #1.
by asagenki at Citysearch
Since years ago, my favorite food was shabu shabu. I?ve been to Little Tokyo and tried every shabu shabu restaurant there was. Though recently, going there has been a bit of a problem for me. So I started to search for a new place to eat some shabu shabu. I?ve had tried most of the restaurants around my general area, and nothing compares to this place. It?s just amazing.
The portions are just right:
If you eat out a lot, like I do, then you know exactly how much will fill you up. If you?re a heavy eater like I am, a large will be perfect. If you?re a light eater, or have a regular appetite, then a regular will do you just fine. Although if you?re a light eater you might have a few vegetables left over. After your first visit, you?ll know which type of vegetables you might not like. You can ask them to take those out beforehand. And if you do, you can get some extras of another vegetable.
The meat slices are huge, and it?s lean:
All the other places that I?ve been to so far, they give you tiny pieces of meat. What this place gives you is about twice the size of the other places. I don?t mean thicker, I mean wider. The meat that they serve here is so well-trimmed, and the only fat you?ll see is the unavoidable fats within the meat itself.
The sauces, my god, the sauces:
The ponzu here, is just perfect. All the ponzu that I?ve had before, were either too sour or too sweet. The balance found here is incomparable to any other.
The Goma(Peanut), I usually avoid this sauce like the plague, but not at this place, it compliments the meat really well.
The decor and cleanliness:
Usually, when I eat out at restaurants, I?m a slob. But here, it?s so clean I don?t want to mess it up. I try to clean up after myself so it doesn?t ruin the great atmosphere here.
The modern decor is really soothing. Peaceful, and plenty of room to spare.
This has become my #1 shabu shabu restaurant, and it?s so close to my home.
- Pros: Food is great, Service, Ambience, Validated Parking, Lots of room to spare.
- Cons: It's not right next to my house, it's 5 minutes away! =P
