attentive wait staff, affordable price sushi, great food, overpriced mediocre food, bad nothing, good price, attentive chefs
Delicious and reasonable!. I just had a very large lunch at Sushi Hiroba and for how much food we got, the bill was suprisingly low! More importantly, the food quality and freshness was a lot better than other sushi restaurants in the area (I won't mention names). They even let you build your own roll. . . something I've never seen before!
Best sushi!!! Definitely try the "Create Your Own Roll". Came in today with one of my coworkers for lunch and the food was amazing. We started with the Spicy Tuna on Crispy rice, which was too die for, and then got two of the specialty rolls and a create your own roll. I have always wanted to order a roll that I know I would love and Sushi Hiroba actually allows you to create your own roll. The roll I created had albacore, avocado, spicy galic ponzu and crispy sauteed onions. It was sooo tasty that I actually kept soaking some ginger in the sauce to savor the amazing flavors!
Pleasantly surprised!!!. We found this through Blackboard Eats and we will be back! The new Sushi Chef is from London/NY/Etc. and he is GREAT. We sat at the bar and he made excellent suggestions, all fresh, and amaizing. You will love it, and it is such a good value.
Great sushi in Hollywood area!.
I am a sushi lover and have been so disappointed in lots of fancy sushi restaurant in S. california. I almost tried all popular ones since I moved in california 3 years ago and couldn't find any good quality and good price sushi.
This little treasure place....i love this place. Their fish is tasty, sushi rice is good(not too watery & sticky). I went there two days ago with my husband and they even doing 50% off for sushi and rolls!
I love the restaurant so far. good food, good price and happy dinner
HAND CRAB ROLLS ARE DEEELISH!!!! Affordable sushi and great staff.
I live just up the street from Katsuya and LOVE thier hand Crab rolls, and often break my bank just to get a few....I was venturing down Vine and found "Sushi Hiroba"..i went in and ordered some stuff and to my suprise they too had my fav.."the baked hand crab roll"...so i ordered it saying to myself "this is not going to compare to katsuya's roll"...but boy was i WRONG! Its deeeelish! And at 1/2 the price of katsuya's hand roll, making it only 7.95..i am always stopping in to get a couple to go. The best thing is..they are open on sunday night and there again gives me another reason to go there instead of Katsuya, to save a few dollars AND to avoid the hollywood scene, parking issues at katsuya and just all over gaudy scene.
Another pro..besides the free parking and 1/2 priced hand crab roll is that its a gem in the rough so its not crowded...and they have saki promo's for like $2.50, which is going on now! We just went the other night and saki bombed the night away :)
so i def say go give it a try. Its on vine just north of melrose..the parking lot my be a bit empty but dont let that deter you..the food is great, the employees are very nice and they are open on sunday! Hooray for sushi hiroba. I am an obvious fan. hehe. Tell them the "hand crab roll loving lady" sent ya! They'll know who you are talking about!
Don't let the name fool you - tons of tasty options for non-sushi foks!. I've live very close to this place but never ventured in, assuming that it's imposing building meant lots of people, lots of noise, and overpriced mediocre food prepared for the masses. Not so!! My friend and I went in on a recent Friday @ 7pm. It wasn't overly crowded and it certainly wasn't noisy. She had sushi & sashimi - loved it all. We shared the Chicken Skewers and BBQ'd fresh water eel - yummy. I ordered gyoza, and shrimp and vegetable tempura - all truly came straight from the kitchen to my table - no heat lamps here! Service was very personal and efficient. Sake was served minutes after we ordered it, as was the edamame. The food server brought my friend her sushi/sashimi only a minute or two before she brought my food. The portions were fine, but we are not fans of portions that are obscenely over-sized, so what we ordered and considered an appropriate sized meal, many people would probably consider a warm-up. The prices, however, are reasonable enough so you won't walk out having spent a fortune. The menu is designed more like the tapas (or "small" plate) restaurants that have become quite trendy. Although we sat at a booth, they did have a very nice sushi bar. I'll be going back soon to try their miso soup - one of my real tests that all Japanese restaurants must pass to get five stars!!
What?!? One of Hollywood's little treasures. I'm shocked by the review below. I live right around the corner from Sushi Hiroba and go there on a regular basis. After dining for years in Little Tokyo and Korea town, I was amazed at how great the sushi and service were at this restaurant. They have a new menu with spectacular rolls and it is completely affordable. The manager has always come-by my table several times to ensure that service was adequate and my friends have fallen in love with this place after their first visit...so much so that they never want to dine anywhere else now! I guess some people were there on a bad night, but I nothing but good things to say about this little treasure in Hollywood!
avoid always!. Well............I hate to be honest, but I was there last week with a group of about 8 friends. We waited and hour and 10 minutes for our food, which was not good, like sushi you get at Ralphs!!! the rolls never came....the service was not there, and while we ask for our food like 3 times.....thwy never apologize and...well act careless about us. We will never go back......all aorund bad.
Upscale international sushi restaurant chain opens its first American location in Hollywood..
With several locations in Korea, Tokyo and London, this deluxe sushi chain has helped fill a high-end void in Hollywood. A spacious, modern design flows between Asian antiques, stone, bamboo, paper lanterns, white marble and velvety red chairs, creating an elegant group f rooms; there is a large dining area and patio downstairs, and several private rooms upstairs. The kitchen offers premium sushi, more than 100 specialty rolls, as well as a menu of French-Japanese fusion items like black rice with foie gras.
Great, Interesting Sushi. I love Sushi Hiroba for several reasons. Here are a few: 1) Conveyor belt sushi - unique in Hollywod & has prompted me to try many new types of sushi I wouldn't otherwise order. 2) At the very least, decent sushi. 3) Extensive & fun appetizer menu. 5) Good drinks. 6) Very friendly and attentive chefs & staff. 7) Anyone I've ever brought there has enjoyed themselves thoroughly. 8) Green tea mochi ice cream. 9) Big parking lot. 10) Rarely a wait to sit (I don't know if that's good, but I enjoy being seated quickly). **In short: Hiroba is worth at least a first visit. It probably won't be your last.
