Best new Sushi Bar and Restaurant. We have been to K-Zo 9 times and are always eager to return. K-Zo, his wife, and the rest of the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The portions of sushi are large and very fresh, with lots of innovative ideas without going over the top. I am not fond of designer sushi, but do love the spicy tuna on crispy rice, and the "baby" fresh fish of the day. I especially like the fact that you can make a reservation for the sushi bar and your favorite sushi chef. There is an extensive sake selection and shochu (sp) as well. This is definitely a keeper restaurant, and a jewel for Culver City!

Matsuhisa and Sushi Nobu should be ashamed!. My girlfriend and I have been on a mission since we started dating to find LA's best sushi, and I think we finally found it. We've been to K-ZO four times, and it's been consistently spectacular every time. If you're a little adventurous, try the raw octopus. It is THE BEST SUSHI I'VE EVER HAD!!! Don't go for the rolls (which are good, but a tragic waste of awesome fish).

On a side note, I think Nobu Matsuhisa (owner of Sushi Nobu and Matsuhisa) should be ashamed because K-ZO so completely kicks his restaurants' asses. Better service, (much) better food, and friendlier patrons are all reasons why K-ZO is unparalleled.

Nice decor and that's about it.. Expensive, loud, tiny portions. I can put up with all of that if the food was any good. But it wasn't. Nothing we ordered in our party of 6 wowed me. I'd rather take that amount of money and go to sushi zo.

Fresh sushi and friendly service!. I flat out love this place and make it a point to give my friends gift certificates here whenever possible. The one downside is that Culver City isn't the easiest place to get to if you don't already live in the area. The restaurant is somewhat small so not ideal for large parties (though they have one table which can fit a large party), but for 2-4 people, it's a great place to get creative dishes, fresh fish and nice service. I almost always get the pre-set menu because it allows the chef to give us his best. You get a lot of food for the money too. What I like best is that the owner and the staff are very nice and always friendly. Definitely highly recommended.

Great meal, nice server. One of my favs, server are nice and food is a must, brought my wine there and they allowed me to drink it, they were adorable with us. Plates were not very clean but they change it right away. We always had a great meal there. Highly recommended

Exquisite. An amazing sushi restaurant but so much more. The prix fixe dinners are amazing.

Loved the tender rib eye and the fish of the day. Wonderful, richly flavored sauces and provocative combinations. Chef Kei is truly gifted. Wonderful service and atmosphere in the newly developed area of Culver City near Sony Studios. Sushi is very fresh with some innovative creations as well. Highly recommend. A hidden gem, but not for long!

Sushi-master star rises in Culver City, conjuring sublime sushi and dazzling small plates.. The Scene
Stylish minimalism converges with industrial chic as polished concrete, plate glass, white walls, grey banquettes and exposed pipes offset gunmetal beads and flickering votives. The gleaming sushi bar mesmerizes an upscale Culver City crowd, culinary pilgrims and handsome young professionals.

The Food
Chef/owner Keizo Ishiba (formerly of Sushu Roku) revitalizes the soul of Japanese tradition with accents of French technique and an almost preternatural sense for the market's top fish in his perfect sushi and inventive small plates. Ishiba shops daily for premium toro, kanpachi, or fresh sardines that make up beautiful seasonal specials. Icy fresh Kumamoto oysters are topped with silken sweet uni, osetra caviar and gold flakes, creating a symphony of flavors in a single transcendent bite. Rich braised abalone is bathed in light foie gras sauce and truffle oil atop broth-infused daikon. Steamed monkfish liver's bold taste is counterbalanced with citrusy ponzu, while eringi mushrooms sauteed in yuzu evoke the essence of autumn woods meeting winter.

Best Sushi in L.A.. Without a doubt the best sushi in Los Angeles. Order from the chefs special menu - you're guaranteed the freshest, finest creations made from Keizo himself. This is Japanese cuisine at its best: creative, progressive & traditional at the same time, efficient, friendly - exactly what you'd find in Japan. Keizo comes from Roku, and thankfully left the Roku "scene" back on 3rd Street. Unparalleled!!!!
