excellent drinks, best club, great spot, good current dance music, great freaking place, nice decor, like white people
Find another spot.
This is my first review. Normally I wouldn't take the time to do this but this place has really turned me off. I have been to this club a few times and each time I leave utterly disappointed. If you aren't white or an A-lister, you will have a tough time getting in. Once you actually get in, the place is WAY overcrowded and it is impossible to walk thru this place. The security staff is more interested in tlking to girls and extorting money from patrons than in actually doing their job and keeping the walkways clear for customers.
The one night we got bottle service, the security staff was extremely disappointing. They made it very clear that they won't help you out unless you give them a "tip". Almost $2200 dollars for a table and 5 bottles, and we are expected to pay more so they will do their job properly. All we wanted was for him to clear some space in front of our table. This is no way to operate a business that thrives on repeat business.
The waitresses are very rude and have no problems shoving their way thrugh the crowd when all that was needed was for them to tap you on the shoulder and say "excuse me." The valets are theives. I had my ipod stolen from my locked glove box while my car was in their possession. When I reported this to the guy in charge of the valet, he told me I have to talk to the manager on Monday and go down to the office to file a report. What a crock of sh*t.
I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun, carefree night. I hate to say it, but SBE (the company that owns Area) has really started to go downhill. I will stick with Privilege or Element. The crowds may not be the A-lister any more, but I can pretty much guarantee that I will ahve a good time.
Wanna Be Empty Club for White People only. This place is not worth it. I wanted to try it out since it's a new club and I've been to almost all the clubs out there in LA. I drove by and didn't see that much people in the front on a Friday night. But I thought I'd give it a try. It was interesting to see how they made non white people stand outside or not let them in. The bouncers were unprofessional and downright the rudest I've ever seen. I could understand about the club being selective (choosing only beautiful or rich people), but I don't understand, is this darwin's "natural selection" defined as survival of the whites? I don't want to sound narcisstic, but most people consider me beautiful, I am a beauty pageant winner, and I get into most clubs without being on the guest list or waiting in line (if you're considered a "hottie" you don't have to). I bet the only non whites they'll let in is well-known celebrities, just so they can use their fame for their promotions (celebrities, of which I didn't see). It'll be interesting to see how long they last in LA, where it's a melding of different races.
Cool, I guess.....if you like that sort of thing. Yes, it was pretty to look at but also super packed. There were pretty cool people there and defintiely a place to spot celebs but I just do not believe in paying to get in somewhere. We didn't but I heard it was like 25 bucks and I know valet was another 20. It's your typical hipster place and if that's what you want, then head on over-you'll love it.
