view & uploadgreat mexican food, little most burritos, pretty big menu, great little restaurant, friendly staff, good carnitas, very rich guacamole

Wet burritos drenched in smoky red sauce. Salsas made from scratch. Crazy delicious carne asada fries and Mexican breakfast served all day.
Citysearch Editorial Review. Healthier than a taco truck, less "authentic" than an Eastside taqueria and a step above Baja Fresh. That sums up The Taco Spot. Located across the street from The Oinkster, this neighborhood order-at-the-counter joint features a well-rounded menu of ample vegetarian options, fat burritos, combo plates and breakfast served all day. Oh, and tacos. The space is comfortable enough, with Mayan pyramid murals (or is it Aztec?) and framed paintings punctuating the mustard walls, plus a few sidewalk tables outside. If a tofu spinach salad or grilled veggie burrito won't cut it for you, try the popular carne asada fries or a Tampiquena plate with grilled steak, a chicken taquito and cheese enchilada served with rice, beans, guac and sour cream. Not your average taco joint, you can also order ahi tuna tacos and burritos, or substitute soyrizo in your omelet. Daily specials are a nice bonus, along with a bar of salsas with varying heat levels, from refreshing avocado to straight-from-hell habanero.
Carne Asada Fries - unbelievable!. If you have never had carne asada fries then this is the place to have it. The carne asda melts in your mouth and it is extremely flavorful.
One of the few options in Eagle Rock. Denfinitely not anywhere near the best Mexican food. The portions are average or below average. The best par is their salsa bar because there are at least 5 choices, but the salsas are pretty mild. The carne asada burrito is not made of grilled meat, it tastes boiled, so I definitely don't recommend that.
OFF THE HOOK!. This is a great addition to the neighborhood. The prices are super cheap and the taste of the food is above average - definitely restaurant quality. I'm a working mom and I am constantly searching for places that are quick, affordable, healthy and tastes good. The Taco Spot fits the bill. My family of 4 can eat for under $25. Plus the staff is ultra friendly - what more can you ask for?
Fresh!. Mexican food in all shapes and forms is a staple in my diet. Unfortunately, I can't eat from the taco truck everyday because it doesn't agree with my tummy all the time. But now that there's a Taco Spot, I can enjoy the "true" Mexican food flavors without having to schedule a nearby toilet around my meal! :) The corn tortillas the enchiladas are wrapped in are popping with flavor, and filled with giant chunks of chicken. The sauces are flavorful without being salty, and the the salsa bar ingredients are fresh and include the pickled carrots, (that are available at most taco trucks). My boyfriend had the tacos and loved them just the same. The guacamole is also very rich in flavor. Great prices & friendly staff. I can't wait to try the rest of the menu!
one of the best burritos anywhere.
Attention vegetarians: Get the bean and cheese burrito with black beans. Add rice inside. Then choose a side, maybe spicy fries or the vegetable soup if it's the special of the day. You won't be disappointed.
The menu is great, but I haven't tried that many things yet because the burritos are unavoidably delicious. The interior is austere but very clean, service quick and friendly. Portions are slightly small, but only compared with other places serving mega-sized items. Do you really need a burrito that must be lifted with both hands? I didn't think so.
great addition to the neighborhood. i love this place. the menu is pretty big, service is fast and food is good and fresh. i usually get the chicken or beef tacos. i've never had a bad meal here.
Eagle Rock spot delivers authentic on-the-go Mexican without the chain production..
A chrome counter, neon red clock and orange chairs scattered outdoors mimic the neighborhood's retro yet modern aesthetic. The menu features taco and enchilada standards, as well as specials like a fresh ahi burrito and spicy shrimp tacos. Vegetarians and health-conscious types can opt for a tofu burrito, grilled veggies or a chorizo-free soyrizo burrito for breakfast. Patrons can season anything to taste from the plentiful salsa bar; super spicy chiles en vinagre is not for the faint of heart.
Save Your Money. What a disappoinment. Being a native of LA, I figured a new taco place in Eagle Rock would, rock. Was I wrong! I got 2 carne asada tacos a la carte that hardly had anything in them. The shells were not fresh and tasted store bought. My boyfriend got the 2 taco plate; 1 beef and 1 chicken. He said he couldn't tell the difference between the two. He got maybe 2 tablespoons of less than average beans and 1 tablespoon of rice. For what you get on your plate you should look somewhere else. The only reason the Taco Spot got a 1 is because of the salsa bar. Save your money and buy Ortega products at your local grocery store.
TACO SPOT rocks!. I'm new to the area and I discovered TACO SPOT on my weekly drive to work... I have to say they totally rock! Great food, I think the Carne Asada Fries and the Carnitas Tacos are my faves... Definitely one to check out on Colorado Blvd... Clean restaurant and friendly staff too... =D
