Editorial Review for La Cita – by Michael Martin
In Short
It's amazing what a kitschy remodel and influx of KCRW-listening Westside hipsters can do. The interior still feels refreshingly cheesy, with ceiling-strung Christmas tree lights, red circular booths and mirrored artwork hanging throughout the bar and dance floor. Red lights and tiki-style lanterns lend an intimate shade of light to Heineken-ordering faces and disgruntled locals displaced by downtown gentrification. Weeknights feature indie-style DJs spinning eclectic groove, while weekends still entertain Latin music-minded locals for salsa and ranchera-style dancing.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoThe bar seems to have brought its fancy Echo Park prices along, with cocktails priced around $10.
When to GoThursdays are the hottest night of the week for newbie loft-owners and artsy bohemians on-hand for KCRW DJs.
The ExtrasBy next year, a patio is set to open the rear of the bar with cozy seating area and room for smokers.

A couple of friends took me here, I had been my it a number of times in the past but always wrote it off as a some dirty downtown LA bar filled with gangsters so I never went in. Turns out I was totally wrong. This place rocks. It's a cool place with regular people and not filled with the "I'm so cool" Hollywood types nor the "I live on the Westside" snobs. They play different music each night so be sure to find out what they're doing before you go. If you like to dance it's a fun place to dance too. The beer is cheep, the bartenders are cool and the cover is super cheep too. Unlike two other reviewers the door men have always been cool and polite. They don't serve food. The outdoor patio is nice but it's filled with freaking smokers so that's the only downside with that. Give it a shot, if you want to get away from the snobs and wannabes, give downtown a visit.
Pros: Cheep cover and drinks, cool bartenders, great music, patio, cheap night time parking
Cons: Smokers on the patio, no food.

A total fiasco, does he really think that he work in Studio 54?!?! This is just a hole in the wall, so please chill-out and relax dude!! anyways, since you can’t avoid the door-man, then don’t even go. Choose another place better and you’ll be more happier, trust me… xoxo XalliGirl
