great gourmet food, great bar service, worst dining experience, best new restaurant, terrible service, mediocre food, great intimate place
Saturday Nights that the Flat. Great intimate place to hang out on a saturday, the dance floor is small but not too small and the DJ's play a variety of music. Had my bday party here and it was outta control. Affordable door and bottle prices and its just as nice if not nicer than any other down town club with a city view. Outdoor pool with cabanas, very chill place to take a date or go with friends. Guest list is free before 1030pm and 20 after. Email me at jorgejimenez83@gmail com to get on the list. Very nice and hip down town place Saturday nights are the best at the Flat Lounge
Bad management and even worse food.
I wouldn't go back to Blue velvet even if I were offered a FREE meal/drink.
Extremely unprofessional management. These guys are trying to make this place seem like an expensive , upscale spot BUT it's no where close to that ! Don't get fooled...
First I don't get what I ordered because they seem to be "out of that item", then I get charged for item's that were never served. strange right ?
We were a large group and it was hard to keep track of what everyone had ordered so obviously you would trust the restaurant and pay the bill. Only later did I find out that I paid for item's that were never served to any of us !
If you even THINK of going here, make sure you check your bill three times and when you order a certain menu item/drink make sure it's the correct item because these guys will rip you off without giving it a second thought since they think their customers are stupid !
I would pay with a credit card just incase you realize that you were over charged , you can dispute the charge otherwise these guys are not going to give you your money back.. I have been waiting for my refund for around 4 weeks now! Oh and I forgot to mention that I was served some alcohol and it wasen't what they said it was... HORRID EXPERIENCE.
Horrible experience, will never go back. I brought my family to Blue Velvet for a celebration lunch - it turned out to be the worst dining experience of my life. We sat for 45 minutes before a server came to take our order. My brother had to get up and pour us water himself. We were completely ignored. When the food finally came out, the burgers were all overcooked (like hockey pucks), the salads were poor quality and the sandwiches were soggy. I wouldn't even go back for a late-night drink.
BLUE!!!!. You can definitely people watch or better yet celeb watch. The first time I was here...Solange (Beyonce's sister) was dancing her butt off on the dancefloor, Prince and Janelle Monae were enjoying conversations on the couch, and QuestLove was happy to be in the building...so was I. Great place to socialize and have fun...Friday nights!
Blue Velvet. Yo imagine what would be the trendiest place you could think of, well this place is better. And they got the pool right in the middle! Too Fly!
Downtown NIghtspot. I have to admit I don't like going downtown much...I live in El Segundo...but I will definitely go back to the blue velvet. Very chill indoor/outdoor bar lounge...can't wait to check it out in the summer... Drinks were pretty reasonable too.
bad service and no food. Don't eat here! I went to Blue Velvet with my good friends from out of town. After driving around for what seemed like an eternity we finally found the restaurant. Its in an ugly neighborhood near downtown. When we got inside the restaurant was gorgeous, especially the outside pool. The thing that ruined it was the EXTREMELY rude staff and "entrees". We paid a pretty large amount of $$$ and got about two bites of food...literally! I didn't know a small plate consisted of a bite of duck and a piece of brocolli. Then the valet took about 20 minutes to bring our car! Seriously this place is ridiculous. If you are anorexic then this is the place for you, if you are a normal person who wants to eat however, dont come here!
Great food. I love the pool area. I was there on a friday night for dinner. The food was amazing, the service was good. We had planned on going out somewhere in downtown after, but was told my a manager that this was the spot to be. Before 12 the place was packed, great crowd. We got bottle service outside by the pool which was amazing. I will be going back next friday, and the friday after that for sure......................
Bad service and are not constant with drink prices. I have gone to the blue velvet a couple of times and I have to say that if the place is slow they try to avoid serving you by saying that the kitchen is closed- but they are still serving other people even if I called ahead asking if they were still serving. Also drinks change price in matter of min. I had a well drink one night got charged $12- the next night I got charged $10 I asked if it was happy hour and they said no. My friend order the same exact thing and they charged him $5- what the heck???I just can't trust them with their prices anymore!!! Plus bartender have very bad attitude. I don't recomd it!
By far one of the best locations to go to in downtown. People that work there are really friendly. Mikey and Jasmine are the best. I recommend the outside cabana for anyone that wants to throw a party. The music after 9pm is hip/hop. The crowd of people are really diverse. It's great for people that want to get away from the typical club crowd. Food was delicious but I would recommend to go with a group of friends. There seemed to be more guys in the crowd then girls which is a plus.
FYI: Girls: If you want to hang out in the pool area were the cabanas are make sure you don't were your best high heel shoes-the floor is made out of wood and your heels will get stuck in between the floor beds. So even if your not drunk people will think you are because you can't get yourself unstuck from the floor!
