good chinese at reasonable prices – not sure what the macau influence is besides the decor, but the chinese food is worth a visit. go with a large group so you can make reservations and order family style. i'd recommend the fried crab, which are small-ish so make sure to order other dishes. i also enjoyed the wonton soup for its flavorful clear broth. my friend ordered the escargot appetizer but didn't like them. finally don't leave without eating egg custards for dessert. they are the best i've had this side of the pacific.
Charming Monterey Park cafe dishes up southern Chinese specialties accented with Macau's Southeast Asian colonial Portuguese roots. – In Short
This spacious room evokes the nostalgic romance of old Macau. Framed oil paintings of Portuguese colonial scenes hang above smooth faux-marble tables, padded wood chairs and green booths, which are offset by wrought iron, brick and lacy ring curtains. Local families gather for mostly Cantonese specialties from southern China, some of which are blended with Portuguese style. Traditional dishes include roasted pig neck, curry crab, filet mignon cubes, frog with X.O. sauce and sauteed bitter melon.
