great authentic tuscan food, love place, mediocre wine, outstanding service, tasteless fish, favorite owner, bad people
Went without reservation and had to
wait 20 minutes, figured this place must be good if i have to wait. will make a reservation next time though.
Sat at the bar and had a nice glass of white Italian wine that the waiter suggested called Vie di Romans,,,so good!
Once we sat we ordered the Burrata, polenta and meatballs to start. We couldn't have imagined something better then this. Each thing we ordered was delicious so picking our main plate was difficult. We had Margherita pizza, Clam Linguini, Lasagna, Saltimbocca, Panzerotti, and Breaded lamb chops we shared everything....we LOVEDeverything!!!!!
I can not even begin to explain the deliciousness i witnessed! We couldn't resist and ordered dessert although we had no room left for it! We had Butterscotch pudding, Chocolate mousse and the owner/chef sent out these mini round cream filled donuts dipped in chocolate that melt in your mouth! we ordered extras to take home and will be returning soon! I will never eat Italian the same way again, this place is the only Italian I want, soooo GOOOD!!!!!!!!
Over-Rated, luke warm, tasteless,.
Recomended by the Concierge of a five start hotel--Cramped table looking into the kitchen. There were open window tables , when asked we were told no as they were reserved, (2 hours later tables sitll vacant) food was luke warm and tasteless followed by my wife besoming ill..The langostino was partially cooked ,cold and didnt taste right.
Hate to be negative but the overall attitude of the wait staff etc was apathetic at best.
NOT WINE FRIENDLY. sick of snobby restaurants pushing their mediocre overpriced wine lists. bouchon is a great example. e baldi has a 1 bottle limit and is unfriendly at that. not a gourmet experience. go to madeos.
not for me.
When needed the waiter gave us the feeling that we were interupting his constant and loud converstaions with his co-workers.
The food was so so.
It was not busy on a Saturday night so we didn"t wait for a table that was good.
For me this is too costly for what it was.
A note to other reviewers. I wrote this same review on Yelp(where I usually review).. They didn"t post it. According to a source Yelp only will post a a few bad reviews per business. They charge the businesses a fee to upgrade their pages. Bad reviews, no upgrade business for Yelp.
I'll Citysearch as long as they are honest.
A "Must" For Lunch and Dinner!.
I have known the Baldi family for years and if i didnt think highly of them i would not take the time to write on here. This is the best place to eat in Beverly Hills, By Far! Everyone has good and bad ratings on here because everyday can't be perfect, but if you want great authentic Tuscan food with a unique twist try E Baldi...I don't think anyone can possibly be dissapointed. Besides the great food and wine try the desserts which are the chefs specialty.
All i can say is YUMMMMY!
I went there last night and i'm hooked!
Amazing food! I thought because of the location it would be like most of the places around there, alot of show, but i was so wrong. Definatly the class you need for the area but beyond what my taste buds expected. Can't belive the ratings on here!
Really good food! I'm going back tonight!
With it's super chic decor and cozy ambiance this place is a must for lunch and/or dinner.
I went to have a late dinner there about 2 years ago with some friends and we fell in love. Besides the cool vibe and good wine the food was the best thing i have ever tasted. We started with polenta and I can't even find the words to describe it...It is beyond words Amazing! Then we had a Salad which was seasoned to perfection Then the raviolli which melts in your mouth and the pasta sauces are perfection. We also had the Langostino which were soooo good and then the most delicious desert i've ever tasted!
The chef, Edoardo Baldi, sells his pasta sauces at the restaurant and at select markets throughout the US. I'm a huge fan and so is my family. I've made pasta dishes, meats and even pizza with his sauce.
After my first time there with my friends we made it a weekly thing to have dinner there. We have been going once every week for 2 years with the exception of Holidays and we have not once had a bad experience. We even met Edoardo who is as sweet as can be. His father owns Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica which is also an amazing place. Edoardo cooks at both locations.
I ordered the langostino dish and contracted food contamination. We all know the symptoms and illness - no need for the details. It was without a doubt the shellfish. Probably not the best thing to order in the heat of summer. Sadly, the food is great at the restaurant but no place of this caliber should have issues with food contamination.
The owner was not agreeable nor open to the possibility that his dish caused this. Another disappointment as it is in his best interest to take it seriously and investigate.
What has happened to this place.
I went through this registration process just to be able to post my earnst feelings on e. baldi. Starting with a question. What has happened to this establishment? I have been out of state for almost a year and looked forward to enjoying the experience and food at e. baldi.
The food was OK. I remembered it to be much better.
The experience, There was none.
Where is Mrs. Baldi? The beauty. The grace. The elegance . The hair. The body. The shoes!
She offered an energy that made you feel like a welcomed friend in her home. Secure women admired her, insecure women loathed her and gay men wanted to be her (I fall into the later). It was all part of the experience which was e.baldi.
In summary , I am convinced that experience enhances food.
Unfortunatly I won't be returning to e. baldi on my suggestion anymore.
Not an enjoyable dining experience.
If the food is good (does not have to be great) and the service is OK, I am usually pleased.
E Baldi offered neither of the two recently.
After being seated at a cramped table I asked if it would be possible to move to a table by the window. He goes away and then came back with a NO. Fine move on to asking for an ice tea while I wait for my friend. 10 minutes pass no iced tea.
My friend arrives, says nothing about the table. Still no ice tea.
The waiter is being summoned to the kitchen. Now we are being moved to a larger table by the window.
I tell the table story to my friend, who is famous, who then felt terrible that without her I was made to feel insignificant.
An appetizer arrives compliments of the owner. The table next to us commented on how they didn't get anything from the cook. More non celebrities made to feel insignificant.
I order a salad. There is a hair in it. I'm bald so it couldn't be mine. I tell no one since I wanted to just enjoy my friends company and she felt bad enough. My fish, dover sole, dry and tasteless. I don't complain for the same reason previously mentioned.
At the end the waiter does the usual thanks for coming. I smile and just want to get on with my day.
Leave it to an outspoken women, my friend mentioned to the waiter that it wasn't the same as her previous visits. The waiter agreed, it isn't the same anymore and most of the waiting staff has left. He then apologized. He said their hands are tied, the owner tells them who is to sit where. My friend told him that it isn't good business to make people feel bad.
Our neighbors said it was seeing the complimentary appetizer given to our table and not theirs made them feel angry. The waiter said ithe owner decides who gets a complimentary dish. That the owner, is the chef, so their hands are tied. He then said celebrities, established costumers from the SM restaurant and pretty girls are his priority.
The waiter laughs nervously.
