Editorial Review for LeSpa at Sofitel – by Sarah Hanft

In Short
This freshly glamorous spa, located in refashioned hotel Sofitel LA, serves up an elaborate menu of services to Angelenos in need of serious pampering. Six luxury treatment rooms, rainfall showers, an outdoor cabana, and a 2,500-square-foot gym complete with chilled towels promote total relaxation and rejuvenation. Guests can indulge in hot-stone massages, avocado-cream manicures, and invigorating guava-and-pineapple facials. Specialized seasonal body treatments include the Winter Peppermint Milk Bath and the Summer Lemon Sugar Scrub.

I absolutely love the sleek, modern and very earthy design of the spa-such a refreshing change from the average airy day spa. I was greeted by a friendly front desk girl who showed me back to the locker rooms. They are small, but very well-appointed and elegant. The foot soak and tea service were a fantastic way to start off my service-very relaxing! The service rooms are beautiful and the beds are soooo comfy! My massage was extremely good. I chose the So You and the therapist did a fantastic blend of hot stones with deep tissue and I don't know what else-I was too relaxed to remember what they said! But they only charged one flat price for the blend and I felt that my massage was customized to my issues, which is rare in Los Angeles. Overall a really lovely experience.

Pros: knowledgable staff, beautiful decor, comfy beds

Cons: smallish

This spa (and the service provided therein) was PROFOUNDLY BAD. You'd have a more fun-filled and relaxing experience sitting in the Brookstone massage chair at your local mall. Sad, but unfortunately true.

Pros: The only good thing is that I learned never to go back to this black hole of a spa again.

Cons: I wasted 1.25 hours of my life and 150 of my dollars at this establishment. A con indeed.
