What People Are Saying About Library Bar

In Short – Occupying a ground-floor retail space below downtown's Library Court Lofts, adjacent to a Wolfgang Puck Express, this literary-minded lounge offers a sophisticated drinking space and after-work social scene. Catering to the upscale residents of the area and not the beer-swiggin college frat crowd, it features decadent herringbone wood foors under exposed brick walls and oversized window shutters. An elaborate Italian marble bar and pounded metal-topped tables make for lingering conversation amid eclectic jukebox selections.
Editor's Tips

- Parking for Library Bar is located at 611 6th Street. Entrance to lot is on Hope, just across 6th street from the bar on the Northeast corner of 6th and Hope. $5 with Library Bar validation.

- In addition to one of the most articulate beer menus in town, such as Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout and Arrogant Bastard, there's also wine selections and a full bar
- Look Good:
- While the bar doesn't serve its own food, guests are encouraged to order pizza and other dishes from Puck restaurant next door.

Good Drinks, Good People
by lwren2214
I came here on a whim one Saturday night with a handful of friends who were fried after finals. One friend was actually getting over stomach flu at the time but a total trooper in coming out, so in honor of her feeling less than great, we all dressed a little down in jeans and hoodies. Surprisingly, this wasn't much of a problem when we got into the Library Bar.
The bar was pretty active when we got inside. It's spacious too so it didn't seem crowded and it was easy to find a comfortable couch. Bartenders were friendly and we were all pretty happy with our drinks.
There was also a really friendly atmosphere that I liked, where you could talk and have fun with total strangers or keep it a little more tight-knit with your own group if you wanted.
A cool place to hang out overall and a watering hole that can appeal to a lot of different people.
Rude bartender!

I showed up last Friday to meet some co workers after our holiday party. They had already been there, and sure they had spend enough money, this place isnt very cheap. Sure its nice, but what came next, made it such an ugly place for me. I got my first beer, wasnt even halfway with it, when the bartender came to our group and told us to "TONE IT DOWN"!
We were having fun like everyone else was in the place, and he approached us to tell us that, as a paying customer, I was certainly ticked off at the fact that everyone else surrounding us was doing the exact same thing we were, I looked around at the whole crowd to see what we were doing wrong, I came to the conclusion that the only thing that was wrong is that we were the only Mexican crowd in the place. We finished our beers, and decided to go to nearby Casey's. Not once, were we told to "TONE IT DOWN"! Is this the way Downtown is trying to be successful, with places like this one?! Sorry but I will never go back to this place, or recommend it to anyone!
- Pros: None that I found
