Can "normal" people get in here??. I've read all about how this bar has "no velvet rope drama" outside...yet the 3 or 4 times my friends and I have tried to go (early in the evening too I might add), the bouncer always tells us there's a "private party" going on... come on, what's the deal?

DON'T KNOW WHAT IS SO HOT ABOUT THIS PLACE.. We went there on a Saturday night around midnight, we stood at the door for 30 minutes trying to get in which made no sense because the lines were sooo short and people were coming in and out of that place when we finally got in it was this tiny little bar smaller then my studio apartment. The crowd was lame and the music was worse.

Trendy, laid-back vibe. I went to Winston's on a Monday night and was definitely pleased with the crowd and atmosphere. The place is dark and very New York, with low booths lining one wall and a long bar against the other. It's definitely trendy right now, but the club was a lot less fake-LA than most places - the place was more casual, and people didn't seem to have as much of an agenda as elsewhere in Hollywood. It was also much easier to get into, and there was no line - and we easily found parking on a side street. It's a crowded bar and great for mingling. Winsont's is pretty small though, and the dance floor is tiny, so if you are in the mood for a real nightclub, look elsewhere.

Open to the public?. We showed up around 9pm on a Friday to discover that the bar was closed for a private party until 10:30pm. The door man was polite and told us that we should come back. We returned at 10:30pm to a line where a different door man, not so polite, told the crowd to go away, and that if we were lucky and there was room after 11pm that he would "try to accomodate everyone." We've already learned they won't accomodate us on a Sunday. Eventually, we are going to stop trying...

cool vibe, great service, too loud. went there on a Friday night.-vibe was cool, not very packed. service was great-no LA attitude. crowd is kind of weak and the the DJ is way too loud- this is a LOUNGE not a dance club. the floors are so slippery, that the waitress almost fell and I slipped and stubbed my toe on the cast iron bottom of the table (watch out if you wear high heels). the bathrooms are pretty.

cocktails are strong and huge and well priced. seems like a cool place-good for singles.

we will definitely return.

Dare I say, better than the Dime. I gotta tell ya, I was a big Dime fan. But I really think Winston's takes it to the next level. The crowd is extremely hot, the staff (including the friendliest door policy in LA) is super friendly, and the DJ is great. Everything down to the old-school tiled bathrooms is stylin in this place. I've been there about 5 times since it opened and have not had a bad time yet. It's bigger than the Dime, but still gets just as packed, so prepare to push your way through the crowd. If you really want to be comfortable, get there early and snag a table.
