I recently visited DNA while visiting my friend in Santa Monica, CA. I'm from Jersey and was looking to find a hair salon that could help correct my mishap mullet and turn it into something sexy and
easy to style.
Summer was referred by a friend in LA. I called on Monday morning and was able to get an appointment for that THursday. Immediately, upon entering the salon I was greeted by a friendly face and checked in promptly. As soon as I met Summer, I was immediately impressed. She is personable, warm, educated, and actually listened to what I wanted.
I have fine, thin, hair and am currently growing out a short cut. I discussed my problem areas and told her what I wanted.
I left the salon with THE BEST hair cut and color I have ever had. Summer transformed my scary mullet into a head of beauty!!
She truly is one of a kind and really did go above and beyond to create what I desired!
This salon is unbelievable and I would recommend it to anyone!!!

If you want an Amazing blonde, go to Summer. Highlighted Blondes, please listen! Let me just say, I am not inclined to write reviews, but Summer deserves it. I recently divorced my colorist after 3 yrs - I have dark brown hair and highlight to a very light blonde, pastel blonde - not yellow, not gold, but a baby blonde. My old colorist was lazy, removing foils too soon, giving me a golden, yellow color at times. I was fed up. Trying to find a colorist that gets I don't want any yellow or gold in my hair, that the foil shouldn't be an inch away from the root, has been so hard UNTIL I found Summer. She gave me a beautiful pastel blonde - exactly what my old colorist in NY used to do. She gets it, she's very particular and listens. My hair looks amazing, how it used to look and is even all over with a beautiful color. When trying to find a new colorist I look high and low, let colorists do a few strands to see their color - but with Summer, I immediately trusted her and it is beautiful. With such naturally dark hair, it's hard to find a colorist who does a beautiful blonde and she does it.…
AMAZING All-Around Salon Experience. I moved to Santa Monica just over a year ago and had the insane fortune of living around the corner from Studio DNA. I will never get my hair cut anywhere else and here is why...When you walk into Studio DNA you're engaged by EVERYONE. Not plastic greetings, but sincere excitement at your presence and the fact that you have decided to take part in the DNA community. In the cold Los Angeles hair world this alone would be enough to keep me coming back. I've seen the work of every stylist there--and have been blown away at all the talent owners Danny and Aubrey have found, but typically entrust my hair to Summer and Rosie. I'm half tempted to post old photos of myself to really drive home the point that I don't understand my hair and I don't expect to. When seeing Summer and Rosie you could sit down and without a word from your mouth leave the salon with the haircut you were born to have. As I said my hair competence is sub-par--something the girls caught onto very quickly, so instead of asking me what I want they talk to me about WHO I AM and somehow out of our casual conversations they are able to divine hair-fection (yes, perfection for your hair--it's mind blowing). I have never received more compliments in response to my hair. All the hair attention can be a little overwhelming at first, but if you do decide to visit Studio DNA you're just going to have to get used to it...people will be congratulating you left and right and praying you tell them the secret to looking that good.…
My hair's best friend. I've been going to Studio DNA for almost two years now. Almost every stylist in the place has worked on my hair at one time or another, and I have *never* left looking sloppy, sad, choppy, or unhappy. You want proof, you say? Check out my wedding pictures (google "Our Blog of Love" and then scroll down to the post on 7/22/08). The fabulous hair on both of us? Done at Studio DNA. With on-site, free-of-charge touching up, I might add, so that I stayed gorgeous despite the heat. The owners are some of my favorite people on this planet, the staff is incredibly warm, and the stylists are extremely good at what they do.
