In Short – Who says you have to hit Rodeo Drive or Hollywood Boulevard to get the quintessential L.A. experience? This old-school mainstay might be part of a chain, but don't hold that against it. Taking its cues from a posh men's club where the prevailing motto would seem to be "bigger is better," this place has managed to muster a one-of-a-kind vibe, becoming a celebri-dining destination since it first opened in 1992. Now, after a major makeover in late 2008, the space is host to the sexy and spacious Bar 12-21, an expanded open kitchen and a temperature-controlled wine room at the…

Arnie Morton is the worst steakhouse ever!!! My boyfriend took me there for my birthday. The waiter did not offer us drinks. We sat there for about 15 minutes until I asked the waiter for a beverage. My steak was burned, the mashed potatoes looked and tasted old, side portions were small, and the entire meal was cold. When I sent my steak back the chef, the manager, and the waiter made a big deal out of it. I hesitated at first, but if I am paying $50 for a piece of steak, I want it cooked the way I like it. Then, the waiter lied about the complimentary dessert that is included with the meal and said it was on the house because we were not satisfied with our meal. However, we knew that it was free because it was my birthday. If you want want a great steak, generous portions, and excellent service at a reasonable price go to Ruth's Chris in Beverly Hills.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Expensive, bad service, and horrible food.
Good Food, Great Service

I recently took my parents here and found the food to be good, not great. It wasn't disappointing but, nothing I would rave about. The service however, was great. My parents aren't accustomed to these type of restaurants (language barrier) and feel very uncomfortable being there but, our waitress did a great job to make them feel at ease and not out of place. I really appreciated the friendly, casual service they had, unlike some snooty places I've been to. I've had waiters smirk or act irritated at my parent's inability to figure out the multi course menus. Definitely going back for the food but, more for the service.
- Pros: Great service and great part of town
- Cons: If you go during the day, takes time for your eyes to adjust to the sudden darkness inside. ^^
Overrated for the price.

My boyfriend took me to Arnie Morton's for my birthday. I was all excited for a big juicy steak, but in the end we were both a little let down. First of all, the seating is a little cramped. We were sat at a table in the middle of the restaurant, and it was a little tricky getting in and out, especially with a dress on. Secondly, the food was good, but not great. We ordered the tuna tartar and a specialty shrimp dish appetizer. The tuna tarter was bland, but the shrimp were ok. We then decided on splitting the porterhouse for two with mashed potatoes and asparagus for our sides. The steak was good, flavorful and tender, but not anything special. To finish it off, we ordered the chocolate souffle - bad decision. The souffle wasn't very warm when it got to us, and it was a little chewy. I would take the souffle from Roy's over this one any day. Overall, the food was decent, but at the exhorbitant prices (nearly $300 for two of us including a couple of drinks each, tax, and tip), I would recommend going elsewhere. Try Fogo de Chao. The food is much better for the value.
- Pros: Decent steak; good wine.
- Cons: Too expensive for what you get.
