great casual service, great juicy steak, good food, pricey place, incredible meat, not very warm souffle, very knowledgeable staff
I came here with good friends, on a
Saturday night and had a very good experience.
In terms of decor, the place is going for classic steakhouse appeal with tons of wood and gold. Generic but inoffensive. The restaurant is big and the tables are spaced out well so you have some privacy. They play music for some ambiance but it was honestly really distracting for some reason. The guests shouldn't be paying attention to the music. I felt like I was stuck in a softcore porn movie.
The wine list is pretty extensive and most of the wines were between $30-40 per bottle. Our Malbec was delicious and a great value.
For dinner, we ordered steak and assorted sides, while my really good friend Tina had the lamb shanks. The steaks are huge and an amazing value-- my best friend Rachel and I shared a $30 ribeye and were fully satisfied. (The cuts are every bit as amazing as other reviewers wrote.) The sides are more of a single-serving thing and not really designed for sharing, so order more if you want to share. The mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, creamed spinach and 3 mushroom mix were the standouts-- super delicious. The mushroom risotto was a big question mark, as the rice didn't look like arborio and the texture was off. We had creme brulee for dessert and it was simple yet very well done with the thick, hard sugar crust and the warm, creamy custard.
The service was very attentive throughout the night and in line with other fancy steakhouses, and we never felt rushed. They're not table-turners here, and that's great. I did feel like the restaurant as a whole was trying hard to be fancy-schmancy generic steakhouse in an off-putting way with the menu and the music (ugh the music). It would be nice for this place to streamline their menu a bit and get rid of the meh items (like the risotto) and try to come up with some amazing sides that play up the element of the neighborhood.
I will definitely come back if I am in the mood for a huge hunk of meat and nice wine for a great price.
High Quality Meats!. I love the steak and ambiance. It's a little expensive but I never leave unstatsified. Not all my friends like it though, but it is definitely one of my favorite steak houses in southern california. Maestros is also great in Beverly Hills. Near the Staple Center if you want to go there before a game.
That's so money: USDA prime beef, elegant tableside service and mammoth martinis remain the hallmarks of this classic steakhouse..

Who says you have to hit Rodeo Drive or Hollywood Boulevard to get the quintessential L.A. experience? This old-school mainstay might be part of a chain, but don't hold that against it. Taking its cues from a posh men's club where the prevailing motto would seem to be "bigger is better," this place has managed to muster a one-of-a-kind vibe, becoming a celebri-dining destination since it first opened in 1992. Now, after a major makeover in late 2008, the space is host to the sexy and spacious Bar 12-21, an expanded open kitchen and a temperature-controlled wine room at the front entrance. The dark wood details, Wall of Fame and tuxedo-clad waiters are still in full effect, while General Manager Chris Garrison will make you feel as though you're his personal (and only) guest in the house. Dinner begins with a waiter-driven cart laden with fresh vegetables, live lobster (flown in daily from Maine) and cuts of steak from porterhouse and prime rib to bone-in filet mignon, offered exclusively at this location. Starters like the seafood platter for two are enormous as are side dishes like baked potato, creamed spinach and steamed broccoli with hollandaise. Provided there's any room left in your belly, for dessert try the homemade key lime pie or newly added carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, made in-house daily. It's all pretty indulgent, yes. And worth every pretty penny.

With its dark wood details, celebrity photos and tuxedo-clad waiters, this upscale steakhouse chain has the air of a posh men's club. Service is professional and discreet, with bartenders making a mean martini. Dinners begin with a waiter-driven cart laden with fresh vegetables, live lobster and cuts of steak; customers choose from porterhouse, rib-eye, bone-in prime rib and more. Side dishes are traditional and enormous, from baked potatoes and creamed spinach to steamed broccoli with hollandaise.
Womp womp womp!!!. Arnie Morton is the worst steakhouse ever!!! My boyfriend took me there for my birthday. The waiter did not offer us drinks. We sat there for about 15 minutes until I asked the waiter for a beverage. My steak was burned, the mashed potatoes looked and tasted old, side portions were small, and the entire meal was cold. When I sent my steak back the chef, the manager, and the waiter made a big deal out of it. I hesitated at first, but if I am paying $50 for a piece of steak, I want it cooked the way I like it. Then, the waiter lied about the complimentary dessert that is included with the meal and said it was on the house because we were not satisfied with our meal. However, we knew that it was free because it was my birthday. If you want want a great steak, generous portions, and excellent service at a reasonable price go to Ruth's Chris in Beverly Hills.
Good Food, Great Service. I recently took my parents here and found the food to be good, not great. It wasn't disappointing but, nothing I would rave about. The service however, was great. My parents aren't accustomed to these type of restaurants (language barrier) and feel very uncomfortable being there but, our waitress did a great job to make them feel at ease and not out of place. I really appreciated the friendly, casual service they had, unlike some snooty places I've been to. I've had waiters smirk or act irritated at my parent's inability to figure out the multi course menus. Definitely going back for the food but, more for the service.
Overrated for the price.. My boyfriend took me to Arnie Morton's for my birthday. I was all excited for a big juicy steak, but in the end we were both a little let down. First of all, the seating is a little cramped. We were sat at a table in the middle of the restaurant, and it was a little tricky getting in and out, especially with a dress on. Secondly, the food was good, but not great. We ordered the tuna tartar and a specialty shrimp dish appetizer. The tuna tarter was bland, but the shrimp were ok. We then decided on splitting the porterhouse for two with mashed potatoes and asparagus for our sides. The steak was good, flavorful and tender, but not anything special. To finish it off, we ordered the chocolate souffle - bad decision. The souffle wasn't very warm when it got to us, and it was a little chewy. I would take the souffle from Roy's over this one any day. Overall, the food was decent, but at the exhorbitant prices (nearly $300 for two of us including a couple of drinks each, tax, and tip), I would recommend going elsewhere. Try Fogo de Chao. The food is much better for the value.
"The Best Steak Anywhere" -- Wow, They Weren't Kidding. What an amazing restaurant with impeccable service and excellent food. I absolutely love this place. I am from Chicago and grew up going to the original Morton's. It was not until recently that I ventured to this Los Angeles location. I was wowed with my meal from start to finish and felt like a member of an elite club while at the restaurant.
Best Steak ever. well, i'm not the biggest steak enthusiast, but i had the chicago style steak, medium rare, and it was the more tender, delicious steak i've ever had. also, get the godiva chocolate cake like everyone else recommended. other than that, the service was great. it gets a little loud inside and it was somewhat hard to find. but all in all, a great experience!
Best Chocolate Cake Ever!. The steak was so good and cooked to perfection, but the dessert definitely made the meal for me. The godiva chocolate cake is to die for!! You have to order it in advance since it takes 20 minutes to make. Delicious!!
