great service
BEWARE!!.
They charge by the hour. They deliberately stretch out the time they are moving to make as much off you as they can. It took them 8 hours for the movers to put my already packed items on their truck. They dropped boxes. I COULD HEAR THEM DROPPING MY STUFF!! Scratching and chipping my furniture. Then they refuse to admit it. Do not hire Starving Students! Do not use Starving Students for your move unless you want to get ripped off. You are much better off going with a more expensive, reputable moving company. It will cost you less in the end.
BEWARE!! I have filed a claim with the American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA).
The worst movers.. The worst movers. It took four hours for the movers to put everything on there truck. They scratched and chipped my furniture. Do not hire Starving Students! I should had researched this company before I hired them. Buyer beware!
Not only did they not care.
When the movers arrived there appearance seemed like the guys just got out of jail.
The three movers stretched out what should have been a 2 hour job to almost 6 hours.
They dropped our boxes.
There were periods of time where nothing was being moved into our new house and we were being charged by the hour!
I called there manager and was basically told by him and corporate that not only did they not care, they found it all too hard to believe.
The worst move ever.. The worst move ever. We had only a few large pieces of furniture to move. It took four hours for the movers to figure out how to put everything on their truck. Scratches and chips were discovered all over my furniture after finally getting everything unloaded at my new home. And the claims department was a joke. Do not hire Starving Students! This company does not care. And you will be sorry if you do hire them!
Boycott this company like the plague!. The North Hollywood branch of Starving Students moving company recently
This is a professional company that works hard. I personally had a great experience with Starving Students. Moving is so stressful and they made it really easy. It was simple to schedule a moving day online even though I needed a last minute move. The movers were friendly and very professional. They were so careful with everything...they even wrapped the glass doors on my cabinets without being asked. They wasted no time and went to work as soon as they pulled into the driveway. They even completed the move under the original estimate! I am so appreciative and would recommend this company to anyone. This is a professional company that works hard to provide excellent service. I was very happy.
Best movers in Van Nuys for sure!. Best movers in Van Nuys for sure! I've moved with Starving Students 3 times and every experience has been better than the last. They charge an hourly rate but its lower than most companies. They don't have a bunch of hidden feels like stairs or long carries for local moves. If you hire a 3rd man, its like 30 bucks. Some companies that I've called charge 100 for the 3rd man. And they take credit cards at no additional charge. They give you wardrobe boxes for the move and the truck and dollies are included. Every time I moved with them, the guys were super fast. I disagree with a previous review here -- Had a great experience with Eddie. He's organized and he gets crew to the job on time. My only criticism: I wish that they would move grand pianos.
all were to my benefit. after helping friends move a week before my own move from long beach to oakland, i realized there was no way in hell i was moving my sh*t myself. i went with starving students because i always wondered if the company in fact employed students that were starving. to my disappointment, it was actually two dudes that were far from malnourished. starving students ******up in some ways, but all were to my benefit. they told me they'd arrive at 10 a.m. and they arrived at 9; something that annoyed me at first because i was really, really hung over, but after it took them an hour and a half to load up my things (because i told them i had less boxes than i really did. my bad!), i realized they actually did me a favor. secondly, they told me they had a 3-5 day window to deliver my things. because of this, i had them pick up my things earlier than the day i was moving because i wanted everything to arrive the same day i did (a co-worker shared a moving horror story days before about the theft of all her underwear. so naturally, i wanted to supervise my undergarments on move in day). they ended up moving my things the next day. i took inventory of my sh*t before they moved it in case of shadiness, so this didn't really bother me.
I couldn't be happier with the service, speed or price. I used them a few months ago when I moved and I couldn't be happier with the service, speed or price. First off, there were two gentlemen and they didn't look to be starving or students but that's another matter. They were fast and efficient, packed everything up, negotiated furniture around the hallway corner into the van back to the new place, put everything in and called it a day! It took like 3 hours and would have taken me at least eight myself. Plus, the rate was cheap compared to other professional movers. I even tipped them each a $50 for their time and effort (and not breaking anything) so add $100 to the bill and I'm still happy with the price. If you care about saving money and getting your stuff moved from old point A to new point B, go with them.
stress-free. The movers were very helpful and professional. They made the process stress-free.
